Dylan Dreyer graced the 2026 Royal Ascot in a series of chic looks – but many were quick to point out that one of her looks appeared to breach the event’s strict dress code.

The Today Show host looked elegant in a sleeveless black dress featuring a collared neckline and a flowing ankle-length silhouette. She completed the look with a striking red-and-black crochet hat, embellished with an oversized bow for a playful touch. However, the ensemble was styled with open-toe sandals – a choice of footwear that is banned from the event.

Under Royal Ascot’s dress code, all guests must wear closed-toe footwear,  banning open-toe sandals and sliders in the premier enclosures. Trainers, sports footwear and casual sandals are prohibited across the entire racecourse.

One social media user was quick to call out Dylan’s fashion faux pas. “Thought sandals weren’t allowed but in the last pic a woman is wearing sandals,” they penned on Instagram.

Dylan’s blonde locks were styled into a sleek bob while her makeup oozed glam, courtesy of a bronze eye and bold red lip.

The Royal Ascot is one of the highlights of the summer calendar for royals and celebrities alike. The British horseracing event is taking place from 16 to 20 June in Berkshire. Curated by Creative Director Daniel Fletcher, this year’s official style handbook hails “Bright Tomato” as the season’s standout shade.

“I think it would be an easy transition if I ever were to go out there [to London] and my life revolves around my kids. And Calvin with having celiac disease. You know, it’s honestly all I think about, I mean, all I have to do is feed kids all day long and it’s hard to feed him sometimes and I just it would be fun to experiment and try to live there and see how much easier it would be to live with kids there,” she said.

“I would love it,” she added, explaining that London is a quieter version of New York City.

“I’m a little more introverted. I think maybe that’s why I’m drawn to London…. what I also love when I go out to London is a lot of the green space and just getting to walk around and wander and people watch!”
