Kylie Jenner has partnered with Meta for her latest fashion initiative.
Stepping into the world of high-tech style, the makeup mogul designed three new styles of Meta smart glasses, announced Tuesday morning.
“Our new line of @metaglasses is available today. Three shapes, 26 style combos, with our most advanced Meta AI built in,” Mark Zuckerberg posted on Instagram, adding, “Plus, three custom styles designed by @kyliejenner.”
“This is the first line of glasses that we’ve designed from the ground up,” said Zuckerberg in the video.
He continued, “You have a bunch of touches that Kylie put into them herself. She is such a fashion icon that it was … it was just really fun getting a chance to work with her on this.”
The brand’s previous iteration of glasses was designed in partnership with Ray-Ban, utilizing the iconic Wayfarer style.
Jenner has designed a single oval silhouette that are currently available in three colorways for $399.
According to the brand’s press release, they boast open-ear audio, hands-free calling and messaging, video and photo recording and more.
What’s more, Jenner leant her own voice to the sunglasses, as Meta explains, “pop your glasses on first thing in the morning to start your day with Kylie’s ‘rise and shine.’”
Zuckerberg realizes that wearable technology has to look just as good as it functions, stating in the video, “if this is something that you wear, it has to be great glasses first … it’s almost fashion first and technology second.”
In an interview with Elle, Jenner shared “glasses have always been my thing. They’re the first thing I notice on someone, honestly,” adding that much of what excited her about this latest partnership was not only lending her face to a campaign but also being able to “be involved in everything: the shape, the colors, the packaging, even the little chime sound it makes when you put them on.”
