Country singer Jillian Cardarelli has taken fans along on her cancer journey after being diagnosed stage II invasive ductal carcinoma at 33 years old.
âI donât even know what day it is anymore,â Cardarelli told People in June 2026, weeks after receiving her diagnosis. âOne minute youâre focused on filming schedules, scripts, music and everything. The next thing is doctors, scans, pathology reports and words Iâd never even ⊠I feel like Iâm learning a new language.â
Cardarelli recalled feeling a lump in her breast, and âsomething in [her] gutâ told her to see a doctor. A malignant tumor was found âin an area of very dense tissue.â
âIâve had areas in my breasts that have been diagnosed with dense fibrous tissue since I was 25 years old that Iâve been getting looked at by ultrasound a couple of times, but nothing was ever seen,â she explained. âBut then, I felt something a little different to me. I knew my body. I was a little more tired.â
Cardarelli admitted her diagnosis âwas shocking,â but because she trusted herself to get checked, they found it early.
âI knew something in my body was different,â Cardarelli said, noting that she feels âfear and sadnessâ while undergoing treatment.
Her doctors, however, are optimistic. âItâs going to be a journey,â she told People. âWeâre pretty sure surgery is first and then we have to decide a treatment plan after that.â
