The world has been rocked by the death of singer Oliver Tree, who was killed in a helicopter crash in Brazil on Sunday, June 14, amongst five others. The 32-year-oldâs girlfriend, Fiona Chernavskaya, broke her silence after his death with a touching tribute to the star on social media.Â
The fashion designer shared a series of photos of her and Oliver throughout their time together, alongside an emotional message of grief. âTo my best friend: We traveled to 43 countries, and all 7 continents together. The magic, inspiration and joy you brought to my life and others will never be forgotten or replaced,â she began.Â
âYouâd always tell me when we argued, if things donât work out in this lifetime, you will find me in the next. I love you buggy.â In a separate post, she asked Oliverâs fans to allow her privacy to grieve and to stop perpetuating rumors about their relationship.Â
âThank you for all the kind words. I appreciate every ounce of support at this time. There are so many who have been affected by his passing; please show them love too,â she wrote on her Instagram stories. âPlease have respect for my privacy. We kept our relationship very intimate.â
âWhat I really donât need is to see gossip about other women that Oliver may have been seeing, we were monogamous,â she continued. âRight now Iâm mourning my partner and best friend, anything else is unimportant. Please have some respect.âÂ
Oliverâs ex-girlfriend, âDollhouseâ singer Melanie Martinez, also shared a tribute to her former partner on social media, writing: âBeen an absolute wreck today. Itâs hard to understand how someone who you once shared such a specific and formative time of your life with can all of a sudden be gone.â
âI think everyone who knew him will look back at those moments of laughter and joy he so easily sparked,â she continued. âHis laugh was so contagious and warm. His ability to lead creatively and take action while also maintaining a sense of childlike wonder and awe was so inspiring.â
She concluded: âRest in peace, Oliver. I know youâre making the angels giggle. Iâll be here wondering what stunt and creative project youâre scheming up in heaven.â
Oliver died on Sunday when the helicopter he was traveling on in Rio de Janeiro collided with another, killing six people in total, including Lucas Vignale, Gaspar Prim, Lucas Brito Chaves, and pilots Alexandre Souza and Charles Marsillac.
The musician started as an internet personality before releasing his first single, âWhen Iâm Downâ, in 2017. He then released the Alien Boy EP in 2018, followed by four albums with Atlantic Records. His most recent project, Love You Madly, Hate You Badly, was released in April, and Oliver was busy touring the album when he passed away.Â
In an eerie premonitory moment, Oliver shared on The Zach Sang Show in April that upon his death, his fortune would go towards a foundation named Dr Oliver Treeâs Art Grants for Baby Geniuses, rather than to his family, who wouldnât âget a pennyâ.Â
âWhen I die, my art will continue to have residuals and probably be worth more than it is nowâŠthatâs when people appreciate you, when youâre not there anymore,â he said. âI have basically a committee that Iâve set up when I pass â and I plan to do it while Iâm alive â where basically everyone will vote on who the money goes to each year.âÂ
