Adam Sandler’s daughters steal the spotlight from famous parents in red carpet appearance

Adam Sandler was a proud dad as he stepped out on Monday night with his two daughters, Sunny and Sadie Sandler, and his wife of 23 years, Jackie Sandler, at the NYC premiere of the Netflix film Don’t Say Good Luck.

The film stars Sunny as Sophie Birenbaum, and Adam and Jackie served as producers on the film, making it a family affair. While Adam rocked a bright blue polo shirt with a flamingo pattern, blue sweatpants and burgundy sneakers on the red carpet, Jackie opted for a simple black gown with a halter neck that ended just below her knees.

Their daughters stole the show at the glamorous event, with Sadie in a black satin dress with wide straps and Sunny in an emerald green gown with sparkling silver detailing.

Sunny’s newest role

Sunny co-stars in the upcoming flick alongside Melanie Lynskey and Max Greenfield, and was joined on the red carpet by director Julia Hart.

Julia opened up about casting Sunny in the lead role in an interview with Tudum, revealing that the 17-year-old “was the first and only person we thought of to play Sophie”.

“I knew she was going to be great, but she absolutely exceeded all of my expectations as an actor, and also as a singer, a hard worker, and an amazing leader on set,” the director said.

“In a way that I haven’t really experienced with many actors, Sunny is able to bring any emotion, anytime. It’s remarkable. Her ability to tell different stories in the same scene was truly amazing.”

“I knew as soon as I heard about the idea that I loved it, believed in it, and wanted to do it,” Sunny told the outlet. “Then I met with Julia, and it really made me want to do it.”

The synopsis reads: “Sophie Birenbaum is ready for the spotlight as the lead in her high school musical – until suddenly she’s living with even more drama at home than on the stage.”

Sunny made her late-night television debut on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on August 3, where she revealed her dad’s hilarious clothing habit.

“When me and my sister were younger, we dressed up in his clothes, before that was popular and cool,” she shared.

“The big shirts, the shorts. We held Diet Cokes and yelled about the air conditioning being off. And then we jumped in the pool with our socks on because he wears his socks in the pool because he can’t bend to take them off on land.”

Adam’s distinctive style has become its own trend in recent years, lovingly dubbed Sandlercore online. As for his family’s reaction to the trend, the Happy Gilmore star told Complex that they found it perplexing.

“Whenever one of my kids or their friends talks to me about it… my wife’s like, ‘What the hell are we talking about right now? How did that happen?'” he said.

“But my wife was always nice to me about my clothes. Even when we were young, others would say, ‘Would you put on something better than that? Your wife’s dressed so beautifully.’ My wife would say, ‘He’s comfortable like that. Let him do that. Leave him alone.'”
