Martin Short reportedly called a friend to check on his daughter, Katherine Short, before she was tragically found dead by a self-inflicted gunshot wound and left a suicide note.
According to the Los Angeles County Medical Examinerâs autopsy report, the comedian reached out to a friend to check on her, after he hadnât heard from his daughter in over 24 hours, reports TMZ.
The investigators wrote that upon entering Katherineâs home, the friend discovered a note on her locked bedroom door which prompted them to call 911.
After police arrived, they forced their way into the bedroom where they discovered the starâs daughterâs body, lying in her bed with a Glock 19 9mm pistol by her chest.
The autopsy report also alleges that Katherine had a previous suicide attempt in 2017 involving pills. She also had a documented history of mental illness and depression.
A rep for Martin did not immediately respond to Page Sixâs request for comment.
As we previously reported, Katherine died by an apparent suicide in February. She was 42 years old.
âIt is with profound grief that we confirm the passing of Katherine Hartley Short,â a rep for the âOnly Murders in the Buildingâ star, 76, confirmed to Page Six at the time.
âThe Short family is devastated by this loss, and asks for privacy at this time. Katherine was beloved by all and will be remembered for the light and joy she brought into the world.â
Martin later addressed the death in his May interview with âCBS Sunday Morning,â calling it a ânightmareâ for his family.
âBut the understanding [is] that mental health and cancer, like my wifeâs, are both diseases, and sometimes with diseases they are terminal,â Short added, referring to his late wife, Nancy Dolman, who died in 2010.
âAnd my daughter fought for a long time with extreme mental health, borderline personality disorder, other things, and did the best she [could] until she couldnât,â Short added
