Olivia Newton-John was a mother to one child when she sadly passed away from breast cancer in August 2022. The actress and her ex-husband, Matt Lattanzi welcomed their daughter, Chloe Rose Lattanzi, in January 1986.Â
âYou know, you have moments in your life that ⊠you just canât top them,â Olivia said about becoming a mother to Chloe. âThat was the most wonderful experience.â The star took a step back from her career following the birth of her daughter to focus on motherhood. âI worked my whole life, and the longest period I can remember being home was my pregnancy with Chloe and the first year or two of her life,â she told People 2021. âShe is my reason to be.â

Chloe shared a close relationship with her mom before her passing. âIâve heard her be like, âYou are my daughter. You are carrying the torch,'â Chloe told People in 2023 following her momâs death. âI know sheâs wrapping her wings around me, and I believe in myself now. We feel her every single day.â
HELLO! takes a closer look at where Chloe is today and the enduring bond she shared with her late mother.
Olivia and Matt separated in 1995 following 10 years of marriage when Chloe was nine years old. The publicity around her parentsâ divorce negatively impacted Chloeâs mental wellbeing.
âWhen my parents split up, or when I went through a chubby phase, people were writing about me and having opinions about me without knowing me,â she told the Daily Mail. âIt was like having that social media experience before social media existed.â
Chloe starred alongside her mom in the CBS made-for-TV movie A Christmas Romance in 1994. âIt was tough because she was learning this is not a game; itâs hard work and the hours are long,â the actress told People in 2000 about working with her daughter.
The duo also acted together in the Showtime film The Wilde Girls in 2001.
Chloe went to rehab in September 2012 following her struggle with an eating disorder and drug and alcohol addiction. âI felt incredibly scared and nervous about making the commitment to go through rehab. But finally I got the right treatment ⊠itâs so much better,â she told the Daily Mail in 2013.
Chloe collaborated with her mother on âYou Have to Believeâ for her 2016 debut album, No Pain. The electronic dance single reinvented âMagicâ, the hit song from the 1980 movie Xanadu.
âAs Iâve gotten older, thatâs when I got to listening to her music. I did a re-imagining of Magic because I loved it so much,â Chloe told People. The pair released their second due together titled âWindow in the Wallâ in 2021.
Following her motherâs death in August 2022, Chloe revealed that she and James Driskill had secretly married years earlier, with Olivia officiating the ceremony.
âThis was one of the most precious moments of my life,â Chloe wrote on Instagram. âYears ago in the Bahamas I asked my gorgeous mama to marry me to this incredible man. Thank you mama. For everything. I miss you every moment.â
