Royal fever hit the streets of Bermuda when King Charles was in town for an official visit, and last week, he stopped to chat to members of the public ahead of a meeting at the Museum of Bermuda. The monarch took time to shake hands and chat with various people who lined up behind barriers outside the building. One moment has since gone viral when a royal onlooker had such a wonderfully wholesome reaction to meeting His Majesty. Watch the sweet response in the video above.Â
The video has been shared on social media, with comments including: âHis inner six-year-old came out to play. Iâm only surprised he didnât jump up and downâ and: âPretty sure I would have the same childish look on my face, had I just exchanged views with King Charles. Iâm a great fan!â
In Charlesâ address to Bermuda at a Government House garden party, he apologised for not coming to visit the nation sooner. âI am told to my amazement it is also the first time in Bermudaâs four-hundred-year history that the islands have received a reigning King. I am terribly sorry it has taken so long!,â he said.
The trip to the British Overseas Territory directly followed Charlesâ state visit to the US, which was a joint one alongside his wife Queen Camilla. After the US trip concluded, Camilla then parted ways with Charles and did not join her husband on the next leg of the trip. While we know from planning papers that this was always the plan, the palace has not explained why Charles proceeded solo. It is possible that Camillaâs anxiety could be to blame as sheâs made a previous admission about not liking flying, therefore the extra travelling could have played a part.Â
Queen Camillaâs faux pas?
The American trip has been branded a success for royal popularity and British diplomacy alike, but it didnât come without its hiccups â everything from upside down flags through to US President Donald Trump cutting up royalty. Thereâs since been another moment thatâs been scrutinised online, and it features King Charlesâ wife. Ahead of the monarchâs landmark speech at US Congress, Queen Camilla seamlessly placed her designer handbag on the ground out of sight, but many have been questioning if this was proper etiquette for anyone, let alone a royal. Some branded it the right thing to do given the scenario, while others thought she should have carried on holding it.Â
Alison M. Cheperdak is an etiquette coach, and she analysed the brief moment for Fox Local News. She described it as a last-minute âgame-time decisionâ for the Queen, remarking that it was an âoversightâ on behalf of royal staff, who should have thought about these sorts of arrangements before her moment in the spotlight.Â
