Footage of Michale Gledhill, the suspected killer of actor James Handy, being arrested has emerged.
In footage obtained by TMZ on Friday, a cuffed Gledhill â the son of Handyâs girlfriend Wendy Gledhill â is seen standing near a police vehicle as authorities search his pockets and pat him down.
The alleged murderer is wearing a long sleeved shirt and dark pants, and appears calm throughout the interaction.
Other Ring camera video obtained by the outlet shows Michael, 44, walking on the sidewalk past nearby residences following the alleged stabbing of the âTop Gun: Maverickâ actor.
Helicopters can be heard hovering as he continues his neighborhood walk.
Michael â who lived with his mother and Handy â called 911 with an eerie confession following the longtime character actorâs stabbing on Wednesday.
According to audio obtained by People, a person told 911 operators, âI am the son of man, I just killed the man of sin.â
The âReal McCoyâ actor was then discovered unconscious in the front yard of his home in Tarzana, suffering from a stab wound to his chest.
After paramedics from the Los Angeles Fire Department transported the actor to a nearby hospital, Handy was pronounced dead.
Michael, meanwhile, was charged with one count of murder following his arrest, and is reportedly being incarcerated at Van Nuys Jail, with a bail amount of $2 million.
Per a statement from the Los Angeles Police Department, prior to his arrest, Michael âflagged down nearby responding officers, telling them he was the one they were looking for.â
The statement noted that âthe suspect resides at the location with his mother, who is the victimâs girlfriend.â
They added that they âbelieve this is an isolated incident and there appears to be no danger to the public.â
On Friday, Wendy, 76, spoke out on the tragedy from her home in Tarzana, saying that sheâs âjust trying to make it through one day at a time, a minute at a time.â
She told the California Post that she âloved James and my sonâ and âcanât believeâ her son was responsible for the alleged stabbing death.
Prior to going back inside the house, Wendy said, âIâm just trying to âŠâ before trailing off.
Also on Friday, Wendy told TMZ that her son was diagnosed with schizophrenia last July, but had stopped taking medication for the condition âabout a weekâ before the stabbing incident.
And though she claimed the actor and her son âdidnât always see eye-to-eye,â they had a âgenerally cordialâ relationship.
Speaking to Handyâs family, per TMZ, she said through tears, âThey know I loved him so much. Iâm so sorry. Iâm so sorry this happened. Iâm still in shock. I still canât comprehend it.â
Little is known about the âJumanjiâ actorâs private life â his last film was 2022âs âTop Gun: Maverick,â and his final public appearance took place at the Whitefire Theatre in Los Angeles in 2017.
