Rosie was vocally opposed to the idea of plastic surgery for decades, yet changed her tune in her 60s after undergoing a weight loss transformation.
âI lost so much weight that I had a lot of excess skin [under my chin], and it made me look sad,â she detailed to People. âI didnât want my face to be frozen. I had to wrestle with myself because as a feminist I always felt this is the male gaze and not anything I believe in.â
Rosie explained that her youngest child, Clay, pushed back against her desire to get a facelift, arguing that it was inherently antifeminist.
âI changed my mind for six months and then decided the real power of feminism [is] to decide what we want to do with our bodies and when,â the mother of five said.

âI didnât make it public until everyone started saying, âYou look so much better. What are you doing?â I didnât want to be one of those people who says, âOh, nothing.â So why do I look like this? $90,000.â
