It’s a particularly difficult Mother’s Day for the Guthrie family, now nearly 100 days into the disappearance of the family matriarch, Nancy Guthrie.
The case of TODAY anchor Savannah Guthrie’s mother’s apparent kidnapping has garnered global attention, especially in its first month, and updates continue to roll in.
Now, over three months in, Savannah, 54, has returned to New York City and co-hosting the NBC morning news show with Craig Melvin, where she lives with her husband Michael Feldman and their two kids, daughter Vale and son Charles “Charley.”
Michael’s Mother’s Day tribute
In honor of the poignant occasion, Michael, 57, took to Instagram with a photo of an emotional Savannah being embraced by their kids, a show of the family’s tight bond.
“To the strongest person I know. Surrounding you with love on Mother’s Day,” he captioned it, which received shows of support from fellow journalists David Muir, Deborah Roberts, Sheinelle Jones, and more, with Savannah’s close friend and former co-host Hoda Kotb further adding: “Holding you.”
Other commenters responded with: “So glad she has you and your beautiful children to comfort her everyday. This is a very difficult day for your family. We will continue to pray for closure,” and: “Praying for Savannah’s heart today. Thinking of your family on this Mother’s Day,” as well as: “Prayers of strength & peace that surpasses ALL understanding.”
Updates on the Nancy Guthrie case
Over the weekend, the Pima County Sheriff Department’s Sheriff Chris Nanos offered a fresh update on the case. When asked whether they were any closer to solving it nearly a 100 days in, he told Fox News Digital: “We are,” noting there were some “really great” developments coming in, although didn’t elaborate further.
Earlier this week, reports emerged that human bones had been discovered near the missing 84-year-old’s Arizona home, only for investigators to quickly confirm the remains are not linked to the case.
DNA analysis, tips, more
In a statement shared with HELLO! 3 months into Nancy’s disappearance, a spokesperson for the department said: “The Pima County Sheriff’s Department remains fully committed to the investigation into Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance.”
“This is an active and ongoing investigation, and we continue to work closely with our partners at the FBI,” it added, emphasizing the current focus on DNA and analysis of footage. “DNA and video analysis are underway, supported by laboratories across the country. Advances in technology are aiding investigative efforts, and tips continue to be received and reviewed.”
They also continued their call for tips, with over 3000 having come in so far. “We appreciate those who have come forward and urge anyone with credible, actionable information to contact investigators. Even small details may be significant.”
“Please contact 88-CRIME or the FBI tip line at 1-800-CALL-FBI.”
