Robert Downey Jr. and his producer wife, Susan Downey, looked so loved-up as they walked the red carpet at the Lincoln Center Spring Gala on Monday night. The duo, who have been married for two decades, were glowing as they attended the star-studded event thrown in their honor.Â
The Ironman actor looked suave in a gray suit with a black button-down shirt and a burgundy and white striped tie, and completed the look with red-tinted glasses and red leather shoes.Â
Susan looked incredible in a sparkling black gown that fell to her ankles and featured short sleeves, intricate beading and geometric embroidery. The 52-year-old added pointed black heels and dangling diamond earrings to complete the look.Â
Their appearance comes as the duo were honored at the Spring Gala following their work on the play McNeal by Ayad Akhtar in 2024. Â
âThank you to Bart, Lear, and the entire Lincoln Center Theater team for this great honor,â Robert and Susan said in a statement.
âWe look forward to being back at the Vivian Beaumont in May, reuniting with the incredible theater community that embraced us wholeheartedly. Our McNeal experience was a creative journey that continues to inspire us long after the run.âÂ
âIt is a true privilege to honor Robert and Susan Downey at this yearâs Lincoln Center Theater Spring Gala,â added Kewsong Lee Artistic Director of the Lincoln Center Theater, Lear deBessonet.Â
âTogether, the Downeys embody a rare combination of excellence and service. Their commitment to both storytelling and philanthropy speak to who they are at their core. We are honored to celebrate them and the extraordinary impact they continue to have on our field and beyond.âÂ
Robert and Susan, who met in 2003 on the set of Gothika and married two years later before welcoming their kids, Exton and Avri, launched their production company, Team Downey, in 2010.Â
âSusan holds one pillar, and I hold the other, and this creative arc of tension just flows between us,â the 61-year-old actor told The Hollywood Reporter.Â
âOur feeling was, if we wanted to spend time together, have a life together, then we should just go ahead and make movies together,â Susan added.Â
âThere have been times, at the end of the night, when Iâm brushing my teeth, when Robert will have a brainstorm, and Iâll be like, âI canât take this right now,'â she quipped. âBut otherwise itâs pretty organic. We donât really divide work from life.â
âBefore I met Susan, I didnât even know what producers did, except yell at you when you did something they didnât like,â Robert said of their working relationship. âNow that I understand what they do, sheâs the only one I want.â
Robert and Susan met on Gothika, which he starred in alongside Halle Berry, and she helped produce through Silver Pictures. Susan previously shared that she found him âinteresting but weirdâ while working with him, until they began to fall in love.Â
