Richard Gere’s eldest son, Homer James Jigme Gere, opened up about the stream of advice that his famous father regularly gives him about breaking into Hollywood. The 26-year-old, who portrays Dylan Reid in the third season of Euphoria, shared that Richard “gives great advice” and that he was always teaching him about the ins and outs of fame.
“It’s not necessarily related to like the craft, but more like how do you carry yourself, how do you make this work in a positive way,” he told Entertainment Tonight. “Having that kind of sounding board constantly is amazing.“
Homer added that he calls his father “every day“, despite living across the world from each other. Richard moved to Spain with his wife, Alejandra Silva, and their two young sons, Alexander and James, in 2024, while Homer resides in Los Angeles.
“I always love being with my son,” the Pretty Woman star told People. “If we’re out in the woods walking, if we’re here doing something good for other people, I’m always happy to see him.“
Richard welcomed Homer in February 2000 with his former wife, Carey Lowell. The budding actor grew up in Westchester, New York, and graduated from Brown University in 2024 with a degree in psychology and a minor in visual arts.
Throughout Homer’s childhood, Richard chose projects that wouldn’t take him away from his son. “My film decisions are mostly mine, but I’m very careful about not being away from my son, Homer James Jigme Gere, for very long,” he told The Hindustan Times.
“So, if I have to be away for long, I talk to him about it, and if there is a problem, I don’t take up the project. And I have done that. Your family is more important than anything.“

Homer is stepping into his own with his recent projects, including a role in the upcoming Ryan Murphy-led series The Shards. The series is based on the 2023 thriller written by Bret Easton Ellis, and is set to star Kaia Gerber, who shares an unusual connection to Homer.
Kaia’s mother, Cindy Crawford, was married to Homer’s father from 1991 to 1995, and together they were one of the most famous couples in the world.
“A lot of what happened with Richard and I was, I was still 22,” Cindy later explained on Oprah‘s Master Class in 2013. “And at 22, as a young woman, I was kind of still figuring out who I was and what I wanted to be. He was already 37, so in some ways he knew that I was still growing and changing.“
The supermodel added that she “didn’t wanna hear it from him” at the time. “At 22, you think you know everything…and you think you’re already formed. And then you realize 10 years later, you’re like, ‘Oh my gosh, they were totally right.‘“
“I think I was more willing at 22 to be, like, ‘Okay, I’ll follow.‘ And then you start going, ‘Well, I don’t want to just follow, I want to lead sometimes, and I want to walk side-by-side sometimes,‘” she shared.
