Lindsey Vonn is celebrating another huge milestone in her recovery. Four months after suffering a horrific crash at the Winter Olympics, the 41-year-old skiing legend has returned to the gym and is already putting her injured leg through a series of demanding lower-body exercises.
Lindsey shared a collection of videos and photographs from her latest training session on Instagram, looking stronger than ever in a figure-hugging workout set.
Most notably, there was no sign of the bulky leg brace that had supported her injured left leg in the weeks following her devastating crash.
âThe face I make when I can actually workout in the gym!â Lindsey captioned the upbeat post. âMakes me so happy and excited I canât even put it into words!â
The former Olympic gold medallist was seen performing squats before carefully taking steps across an inflatable balance mat, designed to help rebuild stability and control through her lower body.
She then tackled a series of Bulgarian split squats using a bench, before completing more squats with a medicine ball held between her knees.
For most people, it would be a difficult gym session. For Lindsey, it marked another emotional step forward after one of the most frightening moments of her sporting career.
The champion skier crashed just 13 seconds into the womenâs downhill event at the Milano Cortina Winter Olympics in February. She had already been competing with a torn ACL when she sustained a complex fracture to her left tibia, along with other serious injuries.
Her recovery was later complicated by compartment syndrome, a dangerous condition caused by pressure building inside the muscles. Lindsey revealed that emergency surgery was needed to save her leg from possible amputation.
In the weeks after the crash, she shared updates from hospital and was seen using a wheelchair and crutches as she began the long rehabilitation process.
Since then, she has slowly offered fans glimpses of her progress. In May, Lindsey walked without crutches at the Met Gala, marking one of her first major public appearances since the accident. Her latest workout update is perhaps the clearest sign yet of how far she has come.
While Lindsey has kept many details of her rehabilitation private, she has made it clear that she is focused on rebuilding her strength patiently rather than rushing her recovery.
The athlete was also among the 48 skiers nominated for the US Alpine Ski Team for the 2026-27 season, keeping the possibility of a future return to competition alive.
For now, however, Lindsey appears to be taking joy in the smaller victories â moving freely, strengthening her leg and finally getting back to the gym.
