Queen Maxima of the Netherlands and Princess Catharina-Amalia matched their purses during separate engagements and proved why they were the ultimate royal mother-daughter duo.
The 54-year-old sported her version of the designer leather clutch from Hermes during an outing in America as part of the first day of the Dutch state visit to mark historical and cultural ties between the Netherlands and the United States.
Carrying a cream version of the Jige Elan 29 Hermes clutch, worth £3,580 when purchased new, the Dutch queen matched the tones of her outfit with her pricey accessory.
She added a beige Natan embroidered A-line midi skirt to her ensemble and tucked in a crisp white V-neck short-sleeved shirt. On her feet, she wore Gianvito Rossi 105 pumps in praline suede, according to the Instagram fashion page, Royal Fashion Police.
Shielding her eyes from the American sun, the mother-of-three accessorised with a pair of pink Chanel 4220 butterfly sunglasses and dressed her ears with Steltman diamond and kunzite earrings.
The Dutch state visit took place from 13-15 April and saw King Willem-Alexander and his wife visit Philadelphia (Pennsylvania), Washington, DC and Miami (Florida).
Like mother, like daughter
Across the pond, in Amsterdam, her daughter Catharina-Amalia, 22, followed in her mother’s footsteps and chose to cart her belongings around in the same Hermes clutch, albeit in burgundy.
The young princess was in the city to visit a foundation that supports young people through sports and social programs aimed at building leadership skills, as well as to attend engagements centred around housing, urban development, and community.
For her outing, she decided on a monochrome look of a burgundy suit, featuring a blazer, waistcoat and matching tailored suit trousers from the high street shop Mango, and a pair of suede heeled boots in the same colour.
She let her chesnut blonde hair hang loose around her shoulders and added some chunky gold twisted hoop earrings from Franky Amsterdam to finish off her look.
The official Instagram account for the Dutch royals shared a behind-the-scenes look at the princess’s two-day visit to the city and explained what she had got up to in a caption that read: “Today and tomorrow the Princess of Orange will travel through Amsterdam.
“Among other things, she visits projects around science, housing and social engagement. There is also attention for sports, art and culture, Amsterdam’s nightlife and safety in the city.”
