Prince George’s teenage birthday gift that proves he’s taking after dad William

Prince George may look the spitting image of his dad, but the freshly turned teenager appears to be taking after his father in more ways than one.

In honour of George turning 13 on Wednesday, his parents, the Prince and Princess of Wales, shared a video showcasing several sweet moments, including the young Prince climbing rocks, playing cricket and frolicking around on the beach.

Sharing the post on social media, they wrote: “Happy 13th birthday, George!”

At one moment during the clip, the eldest of the Wales’s brood was spotted wearing a Garmin watch, the very same brand of wristwear favoured by his father.

The 13-year-old appeared to be wearing the £569.99 Garmin D2 Air X15, a brand that is well renowned for producing some of the highest quality sport watches featuring GPS and biometric tracking functions.

The brand describes the model worn by George as perfect “for those with a passion for flight”. The website reads: “Our D2 Air X15 smartwatch is the ideal blend of pilot-oriented tools and modern smartwatch design.

“Fly through your day with GPS Direct-to navigation, aviation weather information, a powerful built-in LED flashlight, voice commands and multiple health/fitness features.”

The wristwatch even has the power to take calls when connected to a smartphone, a feature that the young Prince is unlikely to take advantage of according to his parents’ ban on mobile phones.

Taking after William

George’s dad has also been known to enjoy the benefits of the fitness tracking device, having previously been seen sporting a similar model.

In 2023, during a visit to a food bank, Prince William was spotted wearing not one but two watches.
Much to the horror of experts, William went for a two-watch look, slipping a Garmin Forerunner 245 onto one of his wrists.

The device is priced at the slightly more affordable price of £250, more than that of the version gifted to his eldest son.On the other hand, he wore the Omega Seamaster 300m, a watch gifted to him by his late mother, Princess Diana.

Before making its way into William’s hands, the watch had been a much-loved accessory of Diana’s, the Princess having worn it religiously for more than a decade.

The watch, featuring a 300m mid-size classic quartz model with a stainless steel case and blue dial, was even worn by the Prince at his wedding on 29 April 2011. The super-special wristwatch also has a uni-directional rotating bezel, a screw-in crown and a helium escape valve.
