Princess Charlotte delighted royal fans when she appeared on a surprise portrait alongside her Wales family members, the Princess and Princess of Wales and her brothers, Prince George and Prince Louis.
While royal watchers were distracted by the rare look at family life behind the scenes, we couldnât help but notice that the young Princess sported rather grown-up blue nails.Â
This isnât the first time Charlotte has rocked an immaculately polished manicure. Back in 2025, Charlotte made her debut in the world of all things polished with bubblegum pink nails while attending Wimbledon, which took centre stage as she watched Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner from the royal box.
But we have noticed of late that Charlotteâs fellow tween family, Mia Tindall, the 12-year-old daughter of Mike and Zara Tindall and Isla Phillips, the 14-year-old daughter of Peter Phillips and his ex-wife, Autumn, have been experimenting with their nail choices of late.
Miaâs fabulous manicure
The eldest of the Tindall siblings took centre stage earlier this month when she stepped out with her parents at Ladies Day at the Randox Grand National Festival.
For the occasion, Mia showed off her evolving sense of style, wearing a brilliant blue suit adorned with pinstripes. She paired the matching ensemble with a lacey white blouse with a pie-crust collar.
And with her grown-up look came a grown-up manicure, the youngster rocking what appeared to be acrylic French tips.Â
Islaâs dazzling nailsÂ
Meanwhile, Isla Phillipsâ immaculate nails were shown off when she stepped out with her new step-sister, Georgina and elder sister, Savannah, while at the annual Easter Service at St Georgeâs Chapel at Windsor Castle.Â
Opting for a similar style, Isla chose a very on-trend almond-shaped nail, and just like Mia, complete with white French tips.
Royal protocol
While it comes as no surprise that the trio will want to experiment with their nails, there is one key difference for Princess Charlotte, given the fact that, unlike her aforementioned family members, she is officially a royal.
Her late great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth, had very strict rules about royal ladies wearing nail varnish, the monarch herself seldom veering from her beloved âballet slippersâ shade by Essie.
Therefore, it will be interesting to see, as Charlotte gets older, what nails will be deemed acceptable in the ever-changing rules within the royal family.Â
Her mother, Kate, has been known to break this rule from time to time, and, although she is mostly seen without nail varnish or, like the late Queen, wearing a soft barely-there pink shade, Kate has previously sported a vibrant red manicure.Â
Stepping out at the Easter service in 2023, the future Queenâs rouge nails caught the attention of royal watchers, the vibrant hue contrasting with her royal blue ensemble.
