Pierce Brosnan has been married to journalist and author Keely Shaye Smith since 2001, but he once lived in Los Angeles in a bachelor pad with a maximalist feel. The James Bond actor, 72, was involved in a photoshoot in 1992, taking fans inside his pad.
The star was pictured inside his living room, strumming away on an acoustic guitar. The room featured two large off-white sofas, as well as a floral one next to it. Clearly not afraid of clashing print, Pierce had also added a deep red printed rug, as well as floral armchairs, eclectic photos in large frames, and the most unusual feature â a pool table.
The space also featured several large windows to allow the natural light in and balance the busy feel of all Pierceâs furniture. The photos were captured a year after the death of his first wife, Australian actress Cassandra Harris. He didnât meet his now-wife until 1994, when their paths crossed at a beach party in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.
Where does Pierce live now?
The Mamma Mia star went on to marry Keely in 2001 in his native Ireland. They now live in Hawaii, but they also own a $100 million home in Malibu. His waterfront midcentury-modern ranch house is a true work of art, custom-made by architects Ralph and Ross Anderson, who masterminded a Thai-inspired estate taking cues from Pierce Brosnanâs 1997 movie, Tomorrow Never Dies.
The 12,500-square-foot home has earned the moniker of âOrchid Houseâ owing to its decoration with lush greenery. According to Galerie, the home also features a 4,000-square-foot main bedroom with two fireplaces, as well as an art studio, a gym, a music room, and a wine room.
Inside his Malibu bolthole
Designed with a two-time Golden Globe Award nominee in mind, Pierceâs home also boasts a tiered screening room clad with 20 recliners and a surround sound system. If the oceanfront location wasnât handy enough, the residence also offers a saltwater pool with a waterfall.Â
In 2020, the house was listed for $100 million, but it was removed from the market in 2021 after failing to secure a buyer. That same year, the actor expressed his yearning to live in Ireland.
Pining for Ireland
âIreland always holds a dear place in my heart,â Pierce, who hails from Meath, told Ryan Tubridy on The Late Late Show.
âThereâs a part of me that wishes I had bought a little place there, but thereâs still time for that. I mean, [Hawaiian island] Kauaâi is a bit like Ireland but with the heat turned up!â
