Nicole Kidman’s daughter Sunday Rose is stepping into the spotlight in the most enchanting way, sharing a glimpse of her prom night in a breathtaking gown that feels straight out of a modern fairytale.
The 17-year-old, whose full name is Sunday Rose Kidman Urban, posted a single image to Instagram simply captioned “prom,” but the understated wording did little to contain the impact of the look.
Seated gracefully on a stone staircase, Sunday wore a strapless, intricately embellished bodice paired with layers of soft, flowing tulle that cascaded around her. The ethereal silhouette, in muted silver-grey tones, gave the dress a dreamy, almost weightless quality, while delicate detailing added a couture-like finish.
Her hair was worn loose and natural, falling over her shoulders, and her minimal styling allowed the gown to take centre stage. The overall effect was elegant, refined and quietly confident, a look that feels entirely in keeping with her famous mother’s timeless aesthetic.
Sunday, the eldest daughter of Nicole and Keith Urban, has been gradually carving out her own identity in the fashion world, and moments like this suggest she is doing so with ease.
While still balancing school life, Sunday has already begun dipping her toes into modelling, making select appearances that hint at a carefully considered path rather than an overnight leap into the industry.
Sunday appeared on the cover of Elle Australia’s March issue, her first cover for the publication, made all the more special by its association to her parents’ native Australia (she now divides her time between her professional travels, Sydney and Nashville).
Through her travels and experiences, though, Sunday consistently cites her mom Nicole as her biggest inspiration. “I definitely gained a lot of interest from those experiences and especially being privileged enough to experience them at a young age,” she noted of her extensive world travels, years before ever venturing into the spotlight herself.
“My mum is someone who has always been so creative and my biggest inspiration in life. She’s a key part of everything I do,” she gushed, expanding on the principles the famous family has set at home as well (Nicole and Keith also share a younger daughter, 15-year-old Faith Margaret).
“Something that’s always been followed in my house is doing, not just saying,” Sunday shared, explaining that the idea of following through and commitment to tasks has always been of prime importance.
“It basically means that if you say you’re going to do something, stick to your word and do it,” she continued. “Don’t just talk about how much you want to, but actually put your mind to it and get it done.”
Sunday also talks about wanting to enter the film industry on her own merit, preferably as a filmmaker, citing a love for psychological horror and female directors like Greta Gerwig as inspiration. Plus, of course, her Oscar-winning mom.
Another lesson from Nicole? “The biggest piece of industry advice Mum has given to me is to always be on time. There’s always going to be something with an early call time that you don’t want to get up for, but it’s really important to be on time because it shows that you’re prepared and grateful to be there.”
