Princess Charlotte often joins her brothers, Prince George and Prince Louis, and their parents, the Prince and Princess of Wales, at Trooping the Colour.
The monarchâs official birthday parade, which is set to take place on 13 June this year, is an opportunity for royal fans to glimpse sweet family interactions â as well as surprising family resemblances.Â
Back in 2016, before Queen Elizabeth II had passed away and King Charles had acceded the throne, the royals took to the balcony of Buckingham Palace to celebrate Her Late Majestyâs 90th birthday at The Mall.
Having just turned one the month before, young Charlotte cosied up to her mother Kate to watch the parade and the noisy flypast, failing to hide her confusion with a scrunched nose and tiny frown. The facial expression was uncannily similar to one pulled by her late grandmother, Princess Diana, on her first birthday in 1962.Â
Sitting on a picnic blanket at Park House, Sandringham, Diana wore an adorable white puff-sleeve dress with her blonde hair in unruly curls as she put her hand up to her face and frowned at the camera.
Not only was her tiny look of confusion very similar to Charlotteâs over 50 years later, but Kate and Williamâs daughter also wore a similar bubblegum-pink puff-sleeve dress as she chewed on her fingers. The only marked difference was Charlotteâs darker blonde hair, which had been pulled away from her eyes with a cute baby pink bow clip.
This is not the first time the physical similarities between Princess Charlotte and her âGrannyâ, the late Princess of Wales, have been noted. One of the most iconic comparisons was the royalsâ 2018 Christmas card, which showed three-year-old Charlotte pulling a knowing expression at the camera. The look could have been mistaken for a young Diana in one snap taken in July 1970, when Diana was pictured on her ninth birthday while on holiday in Itchenor, West Sussex.
Beyond physical similarities, Charlotte is also said to have the same kind-heartedness that Diana was known for.
Sources told HELLO! that when the young princess first went to Lambrook, she had no trouble making friends. âCharlotte is so kind and friendly and the other children adore her. Sheâs kind to the kids in younger years and sheâs very popular,â they said.
