She expressed on TikTok in 2023 why she started her fitness routine, revealing: “I started working out for mental health, to have balanced mental health or endorphins, so that I don’t look at myself in the mirror and feel ashamed of myself, and feel disgusted with myself, [and] exercise has helped me shift my mind, not my body. My body is gonna change, everyone’s bodies change. That’s life.”
The singer has been transparent about briefly using Ozempic in the past, however, she quickly learned it wasn’t for her.
She recalled on the Just Trish podcast: “I’ve tried everything. It’s just the science, for me, calories in vs. calories out. Ozempic works because you eat less food. It makes you feel full. So, if you can just do that on your own and get mind-over-matter, it’s the same.”
She humorously dressed up as “LizzOzempic” for Halloween.
Lizzo further explained on the podcast that she also learned that veganism wasn’t for her either.
The entertainer shared: “When I was vegan, I was consuming a lot of fake meats. I was eating a lot of bread. I was eating a lot of rice, and I had to eat a lot of it to stay full. But really I was consuming like 3,000 to 5,000 calories a day.”
She does Pilates, strength training, jumps rope, takes walks, and tries to be active in some way every day.
Two years later, the performer announced that due to her consistency she lost weight, as she shared on Instagram: “I did it. Today when I stepped on my scale, I reached my weight release goal. I haven’t seen this number since 2014!”
She added: “Let this be a reminder you can do anything you put your mind to. Time for new goals!”
The star shed over 60 pounds, 16 percent of her overall body weight, and decreased her BMI by 10.5 points.
