Prince William revealed a hilariously relatable habit of his two pet dogs, Orla and Otto â and itâs something every dog owner will understand.
During a solo engagement in Cornwall, the 43-year-old Prince of Wales shared that his cocker spaniels love nothing more than chewing up slippers left around the familyâs Windsor home, Forest Lodge.
While touring Nansledan in Newquay, William stopped to admire an adorable puppy in the crowd. âOh hello! Youâre very sweet,â he said, petting the pup before asking its owner, âIs he chewing anything?â
He then confessed to his own petsâ antics, adding, âOurs chew slippers. Anything left on the floor is gone.â
Prince William and Princess Kateâs new puppy
These mischievous tendencies are likely coming from the familyâs newest addition. Just weeks earlier, William and his wife, Princess Kate, formally introduced their second dog to the public to mark his first birthday.Â
A sweet photo of Otto â a brown spaniel from a litter of Orlaâs puppies â was shared on social media on 1 May, with the caption: âWelcome to the family, Otto! 1 today.â
Orla gave birth to four puppies in May last year, who even made a cameo in Williamâs 43rd birthday photo last June.Â
âWeâve got a little puppy, heâs only eight months,â Kate shared in February.Â
More recently, at a Buckingham Palace garden party, Kate echoed Williamâs comments about the teething phase, revealing that Otto had âchewed quite a lot the other day.â She added, âYou have to keep them busy. The first thing we do in the morning is check, âHas anyone taken Otto out?'â
Remembering Lupo
The Wales family have long been devoted to cocker spaniels. Last October, Prince William opened up about their beloved previous dog, Lupo, during a cameo appearance alongside Orla on Eugene Levyâs Apple TV+ series, The Reluctant Traveler.
âSo [Orlaâs] actually the niece of our other dog, Lupo, who sadly we lost in lockdown,â William explained to Eugene.
The Schittâs Creek actor responded: âWere you there? When it happened?â to which the Prince says: âYeah we were all there sadly, it was very sad.â
William and Kate announced Lupoâs death on their Instagram account, writing in a tribute: âVery sadly last weekend our dear dog, Lupo, passed away. He has been at the heart of our family for the past nine years and we will miss him so much.â
