Lewis Hamilton gave girlfriend Kim Kardashian a shout-out ahead of the British Grand Prix, calling her the source of his happiness.
“You’ve been a happier man recently, why’s that? Could that be a girlfriend?” one fan asked Hamilton, 41, on Thursday, July 2, as he stood on stage at Silverstone in the U.K., via the Daily Mail.
Broadcaster David Croft chimed in, joking, “You know why he’s asking? He just needs to know if Kimi needs two towels or not,” seemingly referring to Kardashian, 45, accidentally using Mercedes driver Kimi Antonelli’s towel at the Monaco Gran Prix earlier this summer. (Kardashian later sent Antonelli, 19, a new towel after realizing her faux pas.)
“Yeah, that’s a good one,” Hamilton said with a laugh.
Hamilton — who is in England for the British Grand Prix, which runs from Friday, July 3, to Sunday, July 5 — didn’t immediately respond to the question about Kardashian, choosing instead to focus on his F1 success over the past year.
“Once you spend a year with this team, Ferrari is the most iconic team of all time, and they’ve had a difficult period of time,” the racer explained. “It’s such an amazing team and they’ve been so welcoming. The first year was obviously very tough but to finally see the hard work we’ve been putting in, it’s finally get us back to where we want to be.”
Hamilton then circled back to the topic of the Kardashians star, adding, “And of course, of course it’s Kim,” confirming she has upped his level of joy since they began dating.
While Hamilton and Kardashian’s romantic relationship is somewhat new, their friendship goes back more than a decade.
The pair memorably posed for photos together at the 2014 GQ Men of the Year ceremony when Kardashian was married to Kanye West and Hamilton was dating Nicole Scherzinger.
Hamilton split from Scherzinger, 47, in 2015 after dating on and off for seven years. Kardashian, who shares four children with West, 49, divorced the rapper in 2021 after six years of marriage.
Roughly five years after Kardashian’s divorce, she sparked romance rumors with Hamilton after the duo were seen together at Estelle Manor in Oxfordshire, England, on January 31.
The pair added fuel to the relationship speculation when they were spotted in Paris together the following month.
The Skims founder confirmed her relationship with Hamilton on June 1 when she featured him in a photo dump via Instagram. In the photo, the couple enjoyed a bike ride together.
Days later, Kardashian attended the Monaco Grand Prix in France in support of Hamilton, who shared his first remarks about their relationship following his second place finish in the race.
“It’s amazing to have her come this weekend and have the support,” Hamilton told reporters on June 7, referring to the reality star. “But, you know, with my friends, incredible turnout, just overall, the people. It’s amazing to have good people around you and good people supporting you, and she does that for me every day.”
Later that month, a source exclusively told Us Weekly that Hamilton has “spent time” with Kardashian’s children, North, 13, Saint, 10, Chicago, 8, and Psalm, 7, amid their budding relationship.
“Lewis loves kids so it’s been fun for him,” the insider told Us on June 18. “The kids think Lewis is really cool, especially Chicago and Saint, who are completely fascinated by the fact that he drives race cars for a living.”
While dating Hamilton has made Kardashian “the cool mom” in her kids’ eyes, the TV personality is pretty smitten herself.
According to the insider, Kardashian has been “spending her downtime in between shoots traveling to where Lewis is working,” adding that she “enjoys the thrill of the race life and thinks it’s so fun.”
