Kai Trump stunned fans after revealing her washboard abs during a paddleboarding outing with her aunt, Ivanka Trump, in July, and the 19-year-old shared just how she achieved the six-pack look. Kai, who will begin her freshman year at the University of Miami in the coming weeks, revealed that undergoing wrist surgery gave her the space to focus on her fitness and spend more time in the gym.Â
After sustaining injuries from playing competitive golf, Kai was forced to undergo surgery to repair a tendon in her wrist in January. While she couldnât pick up a golf club during her recovery, she could work out in the gym and informed her friends of her new goal. Â
âI literally told them, âI have seven months before I return to golf, weâre getting a six-pack,'â she shared with Fox News Digital. âAnd I got a six-pack literally just by prioritizing the right foods and working out.â
In the gym, the social media star focuses on core exercises, squats and cardio, and favors the stair-climbing machine to build stamina. Kai also explained that working out had the added benefit of helping her mental wellbeing as well as her physical health.Â
âI play a lot of golfâŠand then work out,â she said. âNothing clears your head better than going to the gym and working outâŠEven if youâre not lifting heavy or if youâre just walking on the treadmill, being active clears your head and helps your mental health.â As for her diet, Kai ensures she gets enough protein to sustain her, and tries to eat âvery cleanâ.Â
âI weigh 120 pounds, and I probably eat around 150 grams of protein,â she explained. â[I] eat a lot of sustainable carbs and work out a lot. No matter what Iâm doing, I always have like 40 grams of protein in the morning through a shake or something, just so I have it in my system.â
âI would be totally fine eating steak for the rest of my life, or just chicken and rice, which is weird to some people, but I like it,â she admitted, before adding that her favorite meal was a ground beef bowl with rice and avocado.Â
When she wants to treat herself, Kai will have prosciutto and pesto, but overall sticks to a gluten-free and dairy-free diet. It was her mother, Vanessa Trump, who taught her about healthy living, as Kai told the outlet. âSeeing how she eats and what she prioritizesâŠI kind of grew into that,â the high school graduate said.Â
Vanessa is currently battling breast cancer and has been leaning on her family for support, particularly after she underwent surgery in May. Kai told Page Six that Vanessa was âdoing betterâ amid her health battle, which the mom of five announced via social media in May.Â
âIâve recently been diagnosed with breast cancer,â she wrote on Instagram at the time. âWhile this isnât news anyone expects, Iâm working closely with my medical team on a treatment plan.â
âI would like to thank my doctors for performing a procedure earlier this week on me. I am staying focused and hopeful while surrounded by the love and support of my family, my kids, and those closest to me.â Vanessa shares Kai and her four younger siblings, Donald III, Tristan, Spencer and Chloe, with her ex-husband, Donald Trump Jr.Â
