Kelly Ripa has opened up about the one outfit that has been officially banned from LIVE with Kelly & Mark.
During the June 15 episode of the talk show, the host revealed that she owns a shirt that is emblazoned with a profound phrase. Kelly admitted that she enjoys wearing the garment on select occasions, but she shared that she is unable to detail what the shirt says because her and Mark Consuelos would be âpulled off the airâ as a consequence.Â
Kelly then shared that âthere is somethingâ else bothering her as she opened up about ageing. âI donât know if there are women over 50 in the audience?â she said. âOh my gosh, so many of us! There is something that happens once you go over 50, that happens to our upper thighs that didnât happen before. Itâs like a clapping sound every time you sit down. Do you know what Iâm talking about?â
She stressed that she is far from the only woman to experience the issue, with many female audience members agreeing with her. âYou say you hear it, but I havenât really heard it. It doesnât sound like a clapping sound,â said Mark.
âA thunderous applause?â Kelly asked. âItâs a sound, because he was talking about the friction, and thatâs where I really notice it, the friction of the upper thigh. Thatâs⊠yeah. Itâs not just me.â
Kelly later called out an audience member for disagreeing with her on whether or not carbonated beverages taste better in a can. âI thought we were friends when our thighs clapped together, and now weâve broken up,â said the host.
Kelly Ripa on LIVE
The blonde beauty took over for Kathie Lee Gifford as Regis Philbinâs cohost on LIVE in 2001 and has remained on the show ever since. Following Regisâ exit in 2011, she was joined by Michael Strahan from 2012 to 2016 and Ryan Seacrest from 2017 to 2023.
Mark Consuelos â who shares kids Michael, Lola, and Joaquin, with his wife â joined LIVEÂ officially in 2023 following Ryanâs departure.
In February, Kelly celebrated 25 years at the helm of LIVEÂ and fittingly opened up about her future on television. âI believe this show will continue on for as long as linear television exists,â she told Decider. âI believe that there are too many talented people out there that really deserve the opportunity to find their own audience and grow the audience the way they see fit.â
âI donât intend to work for the rest of my life. I really do not. Contrary to what everyone around here thinks!â she added. âI donât intend on working for the rest of my life. But I think weâll all make that decision when the time comes. I think thereâs a way to sort of get new people on board and have them test cohosts and get the audience used to other people. I think itâs important. I love this show too much to see it sort of ever end with us.â
