How Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift’s relationship caused ‘big flip’ in brother Jason’s life

The introduction of the world’s biggest pop star into the Kelce family certainly proved to be quite a “big shift” in Jason Kelce’s eyes.

The former Philadelphia Eagles center, 38, is extremely close with his Kansas City Chiefs tight end brother Travis, 36, and thereby was around to see how their level of fame shifted exponentially once he started dating Taylor Swift.

Travis and Taylor, 36, have been dating since 2023. Taylor’s immense fame even brought an unprecedented amount of eyes to football, especially once Travis’ own profile grew as a multi-Super Bowl champion.

And that effect was felt by Jason as well, who appeared on a new episode of Ross Tucker’s Football Podcast, quipping: “I went from very much being dominated by large, fat men coming up to me and shaking my hand and thanking me for being an Eagle, to little girls.”

“It was quite a shift of people that became fans,” he noted, saying that at first, the brothers’ fame had a “gradual” upward trajectory when they debuted their very popular podcast, New Heights.

The retired NFL pro continued: “Then it just was a very big flip, obviously, when Taylor and Travis started dating and that led to a whole other demographic and fanbase being interested in not just me, but our entire family, right?”

How a whole new fanbase found the Kelce family

Looking back on his own rise to fame, he added: “The [New Heights] podcast and going to the Super Bowl took it to another level, and then obviously when Taylor got on board, that’s when it kind of shifted to, ‘Oh, now we’re in a whole different kind of category,” noting that many more music fans were coming to games and supporting the teams.

“Now all of a sudden, they’re coming into the football world or interested in the family because of that,” Jason said. “So it’s definitely been gradual, but at the same time, pretty intense the last two or three years.”

Travis and Taylor announced their engagement after more than two years of dating in August 2025, and finally tied the knot in front of over 1,000 guests on July 3, 2026 inside New York City’s Madison Square Garden. Jason was even his brother’s best man.

While the “Opalite” singer has always been aware of the level of attention she’s brought to football by blending their fanbases together, it doesn’t make her any less interested in it. In fact, the one person that can certifiably confirm they’ve been converted to the cult of football is Taylor herself.

What Taylor herself thinks of football now

“Football is awesome, it turns out. I’ve been missing out my whole life,” she shared with TIME back in 2023, noting also that she isn’t trying to let the grumbles of some about her potentially overshadowing the game get to them.

“There’s a camera, like, a half-mile away, and you don’t know where it is, and you have no idea when the camera is putting you in the broadcast, so I don’t know if I’m being shown 17 times or once,” Taylor continued.
