Disney star Christy Carlson Romano is giving fans an update on her health after revealing her positive cancer scan.
āIāve got my tests back, my initial tests back, and it is definitely better than what I feared,ā Romano, 41, said in a Monday, March 2, Instagram video. āBut I do have a lot more tests to take and Iām going to be meeting with an oncologist this week. One thing is for sure ā over the last year and change I had two very significant health scares. I think the universe has been showing me that I need to take my health seriously.ā
She continued, āI have been writing a lot and I decided to continue to write because it has been extremely cathartic for me. So I decided that I would launch a Substack and that way I would be able to document my lifestyle shift journey. And also just, like, musings. Iām not worried about algorithms, sponsored content, ads. Itās just going to be me.ā
Romano concluded the video by thanking her fans āvery, very muchā for their support, adding that it has āgot [her] through a really hard time.ā
āThis has been a lot to process,ā she wrote in the caption. āWriting is my new outlet. I just launched my Substack. Subscribe if you want to get [to] know the unfiltered me. Every week Iāll be writing about my new life/health journey, updates on all things happening in my life, and the millions of thoughts racing through my brain at any given moment. [I] look forward to sharing all the good, bad, and in between with you all.ā
Romanoās update comes weeks after she shared in an emotional Instagram video that a recent medical screening revealed she āmay have stageable cancer.ā
āBoth my parents had cancer. My mom beat it, my dad eventually didnāt, my grandmother on my momās side had lung cancer and died from that,ā she said. āI got the results back a little bit before filming down in Florida. My husbandās [results] came back completely negative. Mine did not come back negative, so basically, what that means is I may have stageable cancer.ā
Romano became emotional as she recalled her interactions with James Van Der Beek, who died in February at age 48 after a battle with cancer.
āHis family is amazing, he was a pillar of our community in Texas,ā she explained through tears. āThey always were raising money for the most amazing charities, and heās not with us anymore and cancer is everywhere ā which is why I got this test.ā
In the caption, Romano wrote, āRight now the news is that something is going on. Iām nervous and a bit scared (heck who wouldnāt be!). Iām going in for a PET scan later this week and hopefully itās something easy to treatš¤. I debated whether or not I was going to post this because I was afraid Iād come off ācringe.ā But I decided it was my duty to share, so that people get out there and get screenings. Letās keep the good vibes going and I will keep you all posted as I get more information šŖ.ā
