Catherine Bach has been spotted during a rare public outing. The Dukes of Hazzard icon, 72, was photographed running errands in West Hollywood this week, keeping things understated in an all-black ensemble as she enjoyed a quiet afternoon in Los Angeles.
Best known to generations of fans as Daisy Duke in the hit CBS series, Catherine opted for a relaxed look, pairing fitted black leggings with a loose black top and coordinating cardigan. She completed the outfit with comfortable pale pink trainers and carried a quilted black Chanel shoulder bag.
The actress wore her honey-blonde hair loose in soft waves and appeared makeup-free as she stepped out before later taking her dog for a walk.
The outing marks a rare sighting for Catherine, who has largely stayed out of the spotlight in recent years.
Her appearance comes less than a year after she suffered a serious health scare. In October 2025, the actress was hospitalized after experiencing an embolism, a blockage in a blood vessel that is most commonly caused by a blood clot travelling through the bloodstream.
The role that made her a television icon
Catherine became a household name in 1979 when she was cast as Daisy Duke in The Dukes of Hazzard, which ran for seven seasons until 1985.
The action-comedy followed cousins Bo and Luke Duke as they navigated life in fictional Hazzard County, with Catherine’s confident, quick-witted Daisy becoming one of television’s most memorable characters.

Interestingly, Catherine once revealed the famous look was her own creation. Speaking to Fox News in 2019, she recalled that producers had originally wanted her to wear a matching poodle skirt. “I said, ‘You want me to match the tablecloth? That’s demeaning to women,'” she remembered.
Instead, she pulled on a pair of cut-off denim shorts she already owned, cowboy boots and a simple top. “They loved it,” she said.
She almost turned down Daisy Duke
Catherine has also admitted she nearly passed on the role that changed her life.
After being dropped by her agency, she was reluctant to audition when writer Bob Clark encouraged her to read for Daisy. “I didn’t think I had a chance,” she recalled.

A career spanning five decades
Before The Dukes of Hazzard, Catherine appeared alongside Hollywood legends including Clint Eastwood and Jeff Bridges in Thunderbolt and Lightfoot and Burt Lancaster in The Midnight Man.
She later starred in films including Hustle and Woman in the Rain before returning to television in shows such as The Love Boat, Monk and African Skies.
A new generation of viewers also came to know her through her long-running role as Anita Lawson on The Young and the Restless, where she appeared between 2012 and 2019. Most recently, Catherine appeared in the 2024 film Holy Cash.
Personal heartbreak
Away from the cameras, Catherine has endured significant personal loss.
She was married to entertainment attorney Peter Lopez from 1990 until his death in 2010. The couple shared two daughters together.
