Marius Borg Høiby’s house arrest has been extended past September 7, which is when his detention was scheduled to end. The 29-year-old son of Queen Mette-Marit, was sentenced in June to four years in prison after being found guilty of rape.
“The prosecution will request further detention with electronic monitoring of Marius Borg Høiby,” police attorney Oda Karterud confirmed in an email to Nettavisen.
Marius is serving his sentence under house arrest with an ankle tag while awaiting a new trial following his appealed against the conviction.
Norwegian police have said Marius will be allowed to leave house arrest to attend the funeral of King Harald on 9 September.
