Victoria Beckham’s candid comments on daughter Harper overcoming ‘really, really bad skin’

Victoria Beckham has made no secret of the fact that her mini-me daughter Harper, 14, wants to follow in her footsteps and create her very own beauty brand. The teen has watched her mum experiment with makeup over the years and then create her own line, but this love for beauty did come at a cost…

In a chat with businesswoman Emma Grede, Victoria Beckham has revealed that her daughter Harper had to go and see a dermatologist a couple of years ago after using too many products made her skin break out. She said: “She used to have beautiful skin, but like all young girls she was enticed by beauty brands and she was putting a lot of product on her face that was not suitable for her skin and consequently ended up going to see a dermatologist because her skin was really, really bad.”

She added that she could relate to her daughter as believe it or not, she also struggled with skin flare ups. “I went through that journey myself. I suffered with child acne, teen acne and adult acne.” She then joked: “Every acne under the sun, I’ve been there.” 

A skincare line for Harper?

We’ve heard a lot of buzz around Harper setting up her own beauty line, despite being so young and Victoria has now revealed one particular area that interests her daughter. 

“She’s a little entrepreneur herself, and I love the fact she looks up to what I do,” she said, explaining that she had put together a Power Point presentation for her mum to look at about her launching her own skincare line. “I don’t want other people to go through what I’ve been through,” said Harper, referring to her skin troubles.

Hilariously, the mother-of-four also shared that Harper had a second Power Point, and this one was to convince her mum to allow her to have a perm. “We’ve put the perm conversation to one side,” she laughed, not ruling out a skincare launch on the horizon, though. 

Victoria and Harper’s relationship decoded

The mother-daughter duo are inseparable with a mutual love for fashion and beauty and she once told Vogue Australia “We’re super, super close.” Psychotherapist Anna Mathur has explained what it is like for mothers of teenage daughters, and revealed that they can experience a mix of “pride, protectiveness, grief and excitement” about this sometimes-tricky stage.

Recently, fans pointed out Victoria looked a lot like Harper in a social media post, and Mathur suggests there could be a more focused mission to look younger during this period of time as the youth of your child is “blossoming”.
