The surprising reason why Taylor Swift’s wedding footage is being kept hidden

Fans of Taylor Swift have been scrambling for any footage from her star-studded wedding to NFL star Travis Kelce on July 3, after her publicist released limited details about the special day. 

The 36-year-old wedded her athlete beau at Madison Square Garden over the Fourth of July holiday period, with stars like Gigi Hadid, Stevie Nicks and Steven Spielberg in attendance. Despite several celebrities sharing what they wore to Taylor and Travis’ wedding on social media, no footage of the actual ceremony or venue has been released. 

Many Swifties believe that Taylor will release the footage in a documentary or on a streaming service, as photographers spotted a sign outside MSG hinting at a film crew being present on their wedding day.

The sign told guests that by entering the premises, they were automatically permitting to be filmed for “an event taking place at MSG”. However, Entertainment Tonight reported that Taylor did not film the event for public release, but rather for the happy couple’s personal use. 

Still, fans have speculated that the “Cruel Summer” singer may use the footage in a music video in the future, perhaps for a song written about her new husband. Previously, she released a documentary about her transition from early fame to superstardom titled Miss Americana. 

She then released The End of an Era on Disney+ in 2025, which documented the behind-the-scenes of her record-breaking Eras Tour.

Her 2023 concert film, Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour, was released in AMC Theatres, and CEO Adam Aron’s presence at Taylor and Travis’ wedding added fuel to the fire that she may be filming her wedding for public release. Adam shared extensive insight into the couple’s nuptials, even describing the décor and vows, before deleting his social media post.

“Immediately upon entry, everything…floors, walls, ceilings…was draped in peach and white,” he wrote. “Large blown-up pictures of Taylor and Travis at each age, year by year from one year-old to late teenager-hood, were on display.”

“A small portion of MSG was cordoned off, devoid of any notion that a basketball or hockey game ever shared that space,” he continued.

“Somehow magically, someone created an outdoor garden at a lush countryside retreat. Everything draped off this time in green and white…They say there were around one thousand attendees, but surprisingly, it all felt intimate and small. Everything was close.”

Adam then described Taylor and Travis’ wedding vows as “long, entertaining, personal, charming, emotional, irreverent and endearing,” before adding: “This is no small love. Each at the absolute pinnacle of their worlds. Each so obviously head over heels about having found their soulmate.”

The wedding was officiated by comedian Adam Sandler, who became friends with Travis after they worked on Happy Gilmore 2 together. The bride and groom both wore custom Christian Dior, and Travis chose his brother, Jason Kelce, as his best man, while Taylor had her brother, Austin Swift, as her man of honor.
