“The Blind Side” star Quinton Aaron found out that his wife, Margarita DeLeon, was still legally married to her ex after the actor suffered a stroke.

Aaron explained in an ABC News interview on Monday that his family told him the truth about DeLeon, who had insisted throughout their relationship that she was divorced for over 10 years, after he woke up from a four-day coma in February.

“She even told the person where we were getting married, ‘Oh yes, I have all the documents. I can email over to you the divorce decree,’” Aaron — who “married” DeLeon at a Los Angeles chapel in 2024 — shared.

Per the 41-year-old actor, an attorney found proof while he was hospitalized that DeLeon was still legally married to a man she had wed in 1992.

Aaron’s family then removed DeLeon from being able to make legal medical decisions on his behalf.

Aaron then admitted that never fact-checking DeLeon’s divorce himself was his “biggest mistake.”

During the interview, DeLeon defended herself, telling ABC News that she didn’t know her divorce was not finalized.

“When I told Quinton back in the hospital bed, and I want to be very honest about this, I feel like this needs to be said and brought out there. I said to him, I said, ‘Bibi, this information that your family pulled up on me, you know, I wasn’t aware of it.’ I said, ‘This is what I found out. It is true,’” DeLeon recalled.

DeLeon’s ex — and still husband, who remained anonymous — told ABC News that he similarly thought the filing had officially gone through years ago.

He filed for divorce in February, the outlet confirmed.

Following the relationship bombshell, Aaron told the outlet that he will now be approaching relationships in a different manner.

“If I had a chance to do it over. I would have done my due diligence. I would’ve definitely done a lot more research,” he shared.

Aaron, who is best known for playing former NFL player Michael Oher in the Oscar-winning 2009 movie starring Sandra Bullock, was in a coma and placed on life support after suffering a spinal stroke earlier this year.

On Jan. 26, it was reported that Aaron initially collapsed and fell in his Atlanta home, which sent him to the hospital.

A GoFundMe page set up for Aaron said that the actor was “fighting for his life” and described the incident as “sudden, frightening, and overwhelming” for his loved ones.

Aaron told ABC News that he’s currently undergoing intensive rehabilitation and managing his diabetes, which was a contributing factor to the stroke.

He also confirmed that he hasn’t regained his ability to walk.

“The doctors projected that it could take months, it could be a year, or up to a year,” he said. “And I said, ‘I don’t claim that time frame. I’ll be walking a lot sooner than you think.’”

Aaron added, “You know, and that’s just how I believe. That’s how, you know, between me, my faith, and my relationship with God.”

It’s unclear if Aaron and DeLeon are still together.
