Sex and the City star Jason Lewis looked so different from his days on the hit HBO show when he made a triumphant return to social media on Wednesday after several years of being offline. The 54-year-old spoke to fans in a video posted to Instagram, which saw him walking along the beach and speaking about his upcoming project.
Jasonâs chiseled jaw and piercing blue eyes were still out in full force, with the addition of a rugged graying beard and slicked-back brunette locks. âThree years ago, I went quiet. Not because I had nothing to say but because I had something to do,â he began his video. âThe kind of creative work that doesnât leave room for much else, and I made my peace with that.â
Jason continued that âitâs the kind of work that needs to find its people, though,â and that he was âstill in itâ.Â
âAnd Iâm far enough along now that it felt like it was time to resurface and share what Iâve been doing. More to come.â Fans went wild for Jason in the comments, with one writing: âWhoâs more beautiful than this man???â while another added: âAged like fine wineâŠglad to see you again,â and a third chimed in: âYou still look just as spectacular.â
Jason portrayed Samantha Jonesâ love interest, Jerry âSmithâ Jerrod, on Sex and the City from 2003 to 2004, and reprised his role in 2008âs Sex and the City: The Movie and the 2010 sequel. The former model hasnât appeared in an onscreen role since 2020, when he acted in Palm Swings, yet has an upcoming project listed on his IMDb page as Restaveks.Â
He joined the cast of Dancing With the Stars in 2022 and was paired with Peta Murgatroyd before being eliminated in the first round. Jason admitted that he had been hesitant to sign on to the show until his fiancĂ©e, actress Liz Godwin, convinced him it was the right choice.Â
âIâd always said no to it because I perceived it as reality TV, and it wasnât a point of interest,â he explained to People. âThis year, when the offer came in, my fianceĂ© asked me to be a little less pigheaded and at least take a look at a show.â
âAnd so I saw [the] first episode she put on the TV, and I was awestruck,â he added. âIt is incredibly beautifully done. The dancers are so talented.â
As for a potential return to the world of Sex and the City, Jason previously told Daily Front Row that he had not been approached about the showâs revival series, And Just Like ThatâŠÂ âI have not [been approached], but I would be the last to know! As much as I appreciate the flattery, the conversation is about the girls,â he said.Â
âI think a good story well told lets us know weâre not alone in the world. It speaks to universal themes that matter to all of us,â he added of the showâs pop culture impact. âAnd it was a very viscerally entertaining show: beautiful sets, clothingâŠshoes! Those dramatic life experiences. Michael Patrick King was brilliantâŠhe spoke to things that matter.â
Jasonâs characterâs love interest, Samantha, did not return to star in the revival due to the reported feud between actresses Kim Cattrall and Sarah Jessica Parker. This feud was seemingly put to rest in the showâs season two finale, when Kim appeared as Samantha in one scene and called Sarahâs character, Carrie Bradshaw, to say goodbye to her iconic apartment.Â
