Queen Mary of Denmark was a spring style muse on Monday as she and King Frederik arrived in Fredensborg to begin their summer residence at Fredensborg Castle.
The Australian-born Danish royal, 54, was seen rocking a far more casual look than the attire she dons for royal engagements, but offered plenty of style inspiration for the coming season.

As identified by Royal Fashion Police on Instagram, Mary wore the ‘Mila’ trousers by Reiss, which came in a dark navy to look like denim but with a breezier feel.

The £170 trousers featured a wave-trim design and a wide-leg cut, which paired perfectly with her plain white tee. Over the top, the royal added the £495 ‘EMY’ leather jacket by Arma, which featured a neat collared neckline and buttons down the front and came in the exact neutral hue of the wave detailing on her trousers.

Queen Mary styled her wave trousers with a luxurious pair of Chanel pumps
The piece de resistance was certainly her footwear choice. Adding a touch of luxury to the daytime look, the Queen picked a pair of capped-toe slingback Chanel pumps, which retail for £910. The finishing touches came in the form of the ‘RB4362 Sunglasses in Light Brown’ from Ray Ban, Sophie Bille Brahe’s £3,300 ‘Boucle Ensemble’ earrings, Louise Grønlykke’s ‘Marrakech’ necklace, and a Cartier watch.
A stylist-approved look
Of Mary’s look, fashion stylist Leanne Jones, who trained at the London College of Style, tells us: “Her Chanel pumps are a case in point that casual dressing can feel just as considered and elegant as formalwear.
Leanne recommends styling Chanel pumps with cropped, ankle-grazing trousers
“I think pumps are best paired with a cropped, ankle-grazing trouser to fully showcase the shoe. That said, they can work equally well with mini shorts, a midi skirt, or – as Queen Mary has done – beneath a flowing palazzo trouser. I love the way the trouser embroidery echoes the tone of both her shoes and her jacket, too.”
Queen Mary of Denmark celebrated King Carl Gustaf of Sweden’s 80th birthday at Stockholm this week
The outing in Fredensborg comes after Queen Mary dazzled in a tiara last week. The royal joined her husband at the gala dinner during the 80th birthday celebrations of King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden at the Royal Palace in Stockholm.

Accessorised to perfection, the mother-of-four added earrings and the brooch from the Danish Antique Diamond Parure, as well as the £2,399 Bottega Veneta ‘Intrecciato Knot Clutch in Pink Silk’.
