Queen Mary proved that her sartorial flair knows no bounds on 24 April as she stepped out for the Technical University of Denmark, often simply referred to as DTU’s annual party. Arriving at the university’s Lyngby campus, King Frederik‘s wife opted for a navy blue look – with a twist.
The royal, 54, recycled her ‘Jubilee’ crepe midi dress by British label Jane Atelier, as identified by Royal Fashion Police on Instagram. The square-necked number was last worn by Mary in 2024 during a more sombre occasion of Flag Day in Denmark.

To the university party, Mary swapped out her pearls and large hat for the more playful ‘Dew Drop Necklace in Blue Topaz’ by Georg Jensen and the earrings to match.
The real star of the show was her footwear. The stylish royal chose Dolce and Gabbana’s ‘Bellucci Rainbow 90 Brooch Pumps in Lace’ which came in a vibrant cobalt hue and retail for £875. The intricate lace shoes featured a 3.5-inch stiletto heel and a crystal-adorned detail on the toe – very Carrie Bradshaw!

A daring royal fashion choice
Fashion stylist Leanne Jones tells us that Queen Mary’s Dolce and Gabbana heels are an indicator of her refreshingly daring choice of footwear.

The stylist explains: “Whether stepping out in embellished pumps, sleek Prada knee-high boots as worn last Christmas, or sky-high Gianvito Rossi stilettos, she embraces shoes as a key part of her style identity. This choice is no exception – the blue Dolce & Gabbana pumps are truly stunning, featuring intricate lace detailing and a jewel embellishment that beautifully complements her jewellery.
Queen Mary wore the statement heels to the 30th anniversary of the Danish Psychiatric Foundation event
It’s not the first time Queen Mary has made a statement with her footwear choice. The Australian-born Danish royal opted for a pair of canary yellow Manolo Blahnik ‘Hangisi’ pumps to the 30th anniversary of the Danish Psychiatric Foundation event at Moltke’s Palace in Copenhagen on 24 February.

They came with a similar bejewelled buckle as the D&G style worn earlier this week. They were used to jazz up another navy dress, this time, a number from the now-discontinued REDValentino line.
Of this bold shoe moment, Leanne also told us at the time: “A pop of colour is always uplifting, and this shade feels absolutely perfect for the season. While last year saw fashion fall in love with soft butter yellow, Spring/Summer 26 is embracing something bolder – brighter, sharper lemon tones that are full of energy.”
