Princess Charlotte has much in common with her mother, the Princess of Wales

And the young royal, 11, appears to have taken inspiration from Kate in her choice of football team, choosing to support Chelsea instead of dad Prince William‘s beloved Aston Villa.

William, 43, revealed his daughter’s preferred team during a visit to Nansledan last week, an ambitious and sustainable urban extension to Newquay, being developed by his Duchy of Cornwall.

There, he visited Nansledan Primary School and younger children from the Naturally Learning Nursery. Told a little girl was a Chelsea fan, he said: “My daughter loves Chelsea.”

Charlotte, 11, has clearly inherited Kate’s passion for Chelsea Football Club, as she’s also known to support the side.

The two already have many shared interests, as they both enjoy playing the piano, being outside, and have a love for running. Charlotte is known to be sporty and also enjoys cricket, gymnastics and netball.

The mother-daughter duo previously delighted royal fans at Christmas time, when they performed a piano duet for Kate’s carol service.

Her older brother, Prince George, 12, is also known to be a Villa fan and has accompanied William to several matches.

However, the Prince previously revealed that he is happy for his children to support any team, and even joked that Louis supports about “five different” teams.

He said: “I’m kind of hoping they’ll all find their own teams in time. They don’t all have to be Villa fans. I’m trying not to be biased but obviously they see how passionate I am about it and they watch the matches with me.”

It was revealed back in 2015 that Kate supports Chelsea after an engagement with a children’s charity.

She met youngsters at the Anna Freud Centre Christmas party when she bonded with one little boy, Rjay Bryan, over their support for the same struggling team.

“We high fived because she supports Chelsea and I support Chelsea,” the eight-year-old told HELLO!. “I love people who support Chelsea.”

Kate’s uncle Gary Goldsmith is also a keen Chelsea fan. King Charles is not known as a football fan, but he is believed to be a historic supporter of Burnley.

William’s love for Aston Villa

Prince William was seen like never before last week – and it was all due to Aston Villa.

The future King jetted to Istanbul to watch his beloved side play in the Europa Final, becoming tearful when they secured their long-hoped-for victory. He looked overjoyed and even shed a tear as they managed to defeat SC Freiburg by three goals to none.

It was the team’s first major trophy in 30 years and their first Europa League title since the Prince of Wales had been born.

In an unprecedented turn of events, he even shared his own iPhone footage of the game to Kensington Palace’s social media channels afterwards.

He was out and about again the next day for a series of engagements in Cornwall despite his late night, though he did sport a rather croaky voice.
