There have been plenty of reports indicating that Prince William and Princess Beatrice are no longer close due to scandals that have involved her part of the royal family.

However, the pair firmly put these rumours to bed on Saturday when they crossed paths at Peter Phillips and Harriet Sperling’s wedding, which took place in Kemble, close to where the NHS nurse grew up.

Images captured at the wedding showed the moment that William greeted his younger cousin with a kiss on the cheek. The pair embraced underneath an umbrella after rain hit the wedding ceremony.

Beatrice was also seen kissing the Prince of Wales on the cheek as they met, with her husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, holding her umbrella above her.

The royal looked effortlessly chic in an Emilia Wickstead outfit, perfectly complemented by Edoardo’s sharp tailoring. Meanwhile, William looked incredibly handsome, wearing a pristine suit as he greeted his relative.

The wedding marks the first time both Beatrice and her sister, Eugenie. have been seen with other members of the royal family since the Christmas Day service at Sandringham. They both missed the Easter celebrations and events to celebrate the late Queen Elizabeth’s centenary.

Beatrice’s recent royal woes

Princess Beatrice has been staying out the spotlight since further emails were released, revealing her parents’ continued involvement with the convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein. Although there was no wrongdoing on Beatrice’s part, both of her parents have been stripped of their royal titles and exiled from Royal Lodge.

Just a day before heading to the wedding, it was also revealed that Beatrice and her sister, Princess Eugenie, had been staying at royal properties without paying any rent.

The report from the National Audit Office revealed that King Charles has been paying rent on Beatrice’s St James’s Palace apartment and Eugenie’s Ivy Cottage, at Kensington Palace home for years.

It was an agreement that was put in place by the late Queen Elizabeth II, who was very fond of her granddaughters, and Charles has continued to honour it. The money that Charles uses to pay for his nieces’ rent comes from the Privy Purse, which is made up of his Duchy of Lancaster income and other private funds. No taxpayer money is involved.

The controversy stems from how the upkeep for both royal properties are funded via the Sovereign Fund, which does come from taxpayers. On top of this, both royal ladies own their own separate homes, and have wealthy husbands, meaning they could easily afford to pay their own way.
