Miranda Kerr has opened up about the healthy diet she follows to maintain her flawless physique and overall wellbeing.
The former Victoriaâs Secret model appeared on Kristin Cavallariâs Letâs be Honest podcast. Miranda explained that she changed her diet when she was diagnosed with proctitis, a form of irritable bowel syndrome, during her pregnancy with her second son six years ago.
Miranda shares son Flynn, 15, with her ex-husband Orlando Bloom, and sons Hart, 8, Myles, 6, and Pierre, 2, with her husband, Evan Spiegel.
âI love food, but when I got sick, I had to learn even more that food is medicine,â she shared. âSo, I love to have nutritious and delicious foods that feed my soul, but, at the same time, I donât crave like unhealthy food anymore because I know how detrimental that can be to my body on the inside, not even about what it looks like on the outside, but on the inside.â
âI want to have vitality and energy and thatâs kind of why I eat healthy.â
Miranda revealed that sheâs been drinking Noni juice, which she described as a âsuperfood superfruit,â every morning for 30 years since she was 13. âWhat I love about it is itâs full of antioxidants, and it has a lot of vitamins and minerals,â she said.
She follows the juice with marshmallow tea âbecause thatâs good for the gut lining. So I get the marshmallow leaf, and then I put it and brew it in hot water.â Her breakfast consisted of a few tablespoons of coconut yogurt with honey and a banana.
âI do all of this before I have my coffee. I get to my coffee, and my coffee is my moment where Iâm in bliss,â she admitted. She opts for Fabula brand coffee, which is mold and lead-free, and takes it with coconut milk from Erewhon and maple syrup.
Miranda ensures she follows a protein-rich diet. âI do proteins, like meats like venison, bison, lamb, turkey. I eat all the meats that arenât mass-produced for the reasons that we all know,â she explained. âIâm not much of a fruit girl, to be honest, but I will have a banana, and I also think a banana is a great snack to go. I do love mangoes.â
However the model avoids dairy, eggs, and wheat, and is âvery specific about the oils, so only cooking with coconut oil or avocado oil. No seed oils.â When it comes to vegetables, she favours squash, carrots, and parsnips.Â
âAnd I do have a little bit of salmon but not too much because of the mercury thatâs in salmon,â she said. Miranda admitted that she used to âlive on sushiâ when she lived in New York, but she doesnât eat it anymore because of the parasites. âI do love caviar,â she shared. âCaviarâs good. Thereâs no parasites there.â
For a sweet treat, she prefers carob over chocolate. âI do like chocolate, and, so, I also will make, like, a carob hot chocolate with coconut milk, maple syrup, carob. Itâs really good,â she added.
