Prince Louis showed off his sporting prowess in personal photos and videos the Prince and Princess of Wales shared to mark his eighth birthday.
While the young royal is often portrayed as sensible Prince George and Princess Charlotte’s cheeky younger sibling, he shed his young, rebellious image for a cool, country aesthetic as he enjoyed a family trip to Cornwall during the Easter break.
Posing with his arms crossed in front of the sea, the eight-year-old looked effortlessly smart in a blue quarter-zip jumper from Boden. Costing £42, the knitted design featured a white collar and red trim on the sleeves, which he had rolled up for the snap.
The brand described it as “ready for an expedition” with its snuggly blended yarn, adding that it is designed “to keep warmth in.”
Royal hand-me-downs
While it was a past-season buy, it was new to Louis’ collection, meaning he had chosen not to make the most of his older brother’s hand-me-downs as he had been known to do previously.
For Louis’ first birthday, the young royal was pictured grinning in a red buttoned jumper from before even Prince George was born!
Childrenswear brand Elfie London confirmed on Instagram: “We were so pleased to spot Prince Louis in our Frog Jumper for his first birthday. This jumper was from one of our first collections over 7 years ago!! And as we always intend our designs to be cherished and handed down, we were thrilled that this has been the case here. Happy Birthday Prince Louis!!”
Most recently, he made the most of stealing items from his sibling’s royal wardrobe at Christmas in 2025, when he was pictured at Buckingham Palace for a festive meal in a navy and burgundy striped jumper by Ralph Lauren.
George had worn the exact jumper five years earlier to a pantomime performance of The National Lottery’s Pantoland at the London Palladium Theatre.
Birthday love
As well as the new photo captured by the family’s long-trusted photographer, Matt Porteouss, Kate and William also released unseen footage of their son enjoying the great outdoors.
It showed him wearing blue striped shorts and a green T-shirt as he dug into the sand, expertly swinging a cricket bat on the beach, and cannonballing into the sea in a wetsuit.
Alongside the video, they penned: “Thank you for all the birthday wishes for Prince Louis. 8 is great!”
