King Charles has reportedly extended an olive branch to his estranged son Prince Harry following their private reunion in the UK earlier this month.

The monarch will reportedly invite his younger son to stay at Buckingham Palace when he is expected to return to British soil in a matter of weeks. Harry is said to be coming back to the UK in September to coincide with the WellChild Awards.

The Sun reports the Duke of Sussex will be offered a room at Buckingham Palace for his upcoming trip. This comes after he was unable to stay at the royal residence for his last visit to the UK.

Harry returned to the UK at the start of July to mark the one-year-to-go countdown to his Invictus Games, which will be held in Birmingham next year. While back in the UK, the royal reunited with his estranged father and mother-in-law, Queen Camilla, at Highgrove House for a private meeting alongside his wife, Meghan Markle, and their two children, Prince Archie, seven, and Princess Lilibet, five.

The latest report is a positive sign that the estranged relationship between Harry and his father could be on the mend after Charles reunited with his grandchildren, who are being raised across the pond in Montecito.

Harry’s accommodation debacle

Ahead of Harry landing in the UK on 6 July, there was much chatter around where the royal would be residing for his five-day visit.

King Charles, who primarily resides at Clarence House with his wife Camilla, reportedly offered his younger son accommodation at the spacious Buckingham Palace for his trip. It was then revealed that Harry would not be staying at the royal residence after narrowly missing out on the deadline to accept the invitation.

HELLO! understands that Harry formally rejected the offer from his estranged father ahead of his UK visit, before changing his mind.

Inside Buckingham Palace

Despite the royal couple choosing to stay at Clarence House, Buckingham Palace is perhaps the most recognisable and iconic of the royal residences.

The Palace has hosted state banquets, garden parties and state visits, and boasts incredible gardens, a gallery, conservatory and a grand Ballroom. It has also been the background for major events in royal history such as royal weddings and Trooping the Colour, which features an iconic balcony appearance from senior members of the royal family each year.

With an impressive 775 rooms in total, which include drawing rooms and bedrooms for guests to stay in, the residence would be a comfortable stay for Harry.
