Princess Eugenieās maternity wardrobe has undergone a subtle transformation since her first pregnancy in 2020, and it appears to be inspired by her older sister Princess Beatrice.
When she was expecting her eldest son, August, Sarah Ferguson and Andrew Mountbatten-Windsorās daughter was pictured hiding in an oversized trench coat, while her pregnancy announcement with baby Ernest in 2023 saw the royal in a casual loose button-up.
Since revealing she is expecting her third child with her husbandĀ Jack Brooksbank, Eugenie has been proudly showing off her blossoming baby bump in long figure-skimming dresses and brightly coloured accessories.
For herĀ recent date night with Jack at private membersā club Oswaldās in Mayfair, the 36-year-old wore a fit-and-flare mini dress from Club Monaco with a sheer ribbed hem, adding matching black heels and a pop of colour in a silky strawberry red duster coat from Galvan London.
But did you spot the similarities between her maternity outfit and Beatriceās 2019 look? Six years ago, Eugenieās older sister wore the exact same coat styled almost identically, with an ebony mini dress and heels, for a dinner to celebrate the 200th Anniversary of TheĀ Burlington Arcade.
While Eugenie may have stolen her sisterās overall look, the jacket originally belonged to her. She debuted the Ā£700 coat at a film premiere in 2018, just months after she married Jack Brooksbank, Royal Fashion Police pointed out.
Sisterly bond
The sisters have developed their own style credentials over the years, but some parts of their wardrobe continue to overlap. They admitted in an interview withĀ Vogue: āOne of the biggest fights we ever had was about a pair of Converse trainers. We have the same size feet and both of us had identical pairs. One pair got trashed and the other sister may have swapped them,ā Beatrice said.
In the same conversation, the pair also reminisced about relying on each other during their public upbringing as part of the royal family. āWeāre each otherās rocks. Weāre the only other person in each otherās lives who can know exactly what the other one is going through,ā Eugenie said.
The 2018 comment takes on new meaning after King CharlesĀ stripped their father, Andrew, of all of his titles, styles and honours following a string of scandals, including his friendship with convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein. He was later arrested at his temporary Sandringham home on his 66th birthday on suspicion of āmisconduct in officeā, but was released from custody after 11 hours.
Keeping a low profile
As a result, Eugenie and Beatrice have been keeping a low profile when it comes to royal events, making alternate plans for the Easter celebration in Windsor.
Royal author Phil Dampier previouslyĀ told HELLO! that although the Princesses remain cherished family members, their reputation is too ātarnishedā to join royal events until at least after the summer.
āI think they have been tarnished,ā Phil said. āIf you remember last Christmas, when they were both invited to Sandringham, they were very much seen as the innocent victims. The King and Queen were metaphorically putting an arm around them.
āI think that has changed following Andrewās arrest and mentions of them in the Epstein files. We sometimes refer to them as āgirlsā, but they are 37 and 35. Some of the stuff theyāve been doing recently in the Middle East has not been a good look.
āPeople will ask: āAre you trying to cash in on contacts that have been given to you by Andrew or Sarah?'ā
