Preparations for the royal wedding of the year have officially begun.

And Peter Phillips and Harriet Sperling haven’t wasted any time in getting their stunning wedding venue – All Saints’ Church in Gloucestershire – ready for their big day.

With two days to go before they tie the knot on Saturday, 6 June, the couple have already closed down the quaint church where their official ceremony will take place.

A sign attached to the gate with white ribbon read: “The church will be closed to the public for a private event for a a private event from Thursday, 4th June until late afternoon of Saturday, 6th June.

With an esteemed guest list expected to include senior royals such as King Charles, Queen Camilla, and the Prince and Princess of Wales, it’s no surprise that Harriet and Peter want to make an early start.

Princess Anne, the mother of the groom, will also be in attendance, and the Edinburghs are also expected.

There have also been some early deliveries to the church, with organisers seen carrying large decorations inside.

Gold candelabras were taken out of white delivery vans, though they were quickly covered up due to the rain, while foliage has been placed inside the porch.

Showers are also expected in Saturday’s forecast, according to the Met Office.

The countdown is on

Unlike other royal weddings, only 150 guests will watch NHS nurse Harriet walk down the aisle in the pretty Cotswolds village of Kemble.

However, there are several royals who have not been invited, including Peter’s cousin Prince Harry, and the disgraced Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Sarah Ferguson.

Harriet, 45, quickly captured the hearts of both Peter, 47, and the nation ever since the couple were first romantically linked in 2024, going public at Badminton Horse Trials that year.

They announced their engagement in August 2025, before Harriet joined her fiance for her first trip to Balmoral – a sure sign of royal approval. They revealed their wedding date and venue in April.

Harriet has a daughter, 13-year-old Georgina, from a previous relationship, while Peter shares Isla and Savannah with his first wife, Autumn Kelly.
