Model Paulina Porizkova is clarifying recent comments after claiming she was being “evicted” from her apartment just days before getting married.
“Strictly speaking, we’re not getting evicted evicted,” Porizkova said in an Instagram video published on Thursday, May 28. “My lease expired, and my landlord just didn’t want to renew it for any amount of time except for a full year, which we didn’t want to do.”
She added, “So it’s really on us. I feel bad about all of you who have such great sympathy for us, when in fact, it’s privileged people problems.”

Model Paulina Porizkova claimed she’s being “evicted” from her New York City apartment just days before marrying fiancé Jeff Greenstein in Italy.
During a recent episode of her “Twenty Good Summers” podcast, Porizkova, 61, explained that her landlord decided not to extend the lease on her Manhattan unit, which she’s lived in since 2021.
“No matter how great a tenant I was for six years, he didn’t really want to give us an extension on the lease, even though I begged and pleaded,” she shared on the podcast she cohosts with Greenstein, 62. “And so we have to move out of here four days before we get married in Italy. Not great.”
Porizkova noted that both she and Greenstein are “over 60” and “are starting over.”
“We’re starting over completely, both of us,” she added. “Because we are about to move out of this apartment that I love so much, that has kept me safe, and where I’ve sort of grown up to be a woman, I feel.”
Despite the complications, Porizkova clarified she still had housing options, saying, “We’re very privileged souls. I do have a country house that I co-own with my sons [Jonathan and Oliver]. And so we can move up there, which is kind of further away from New York City.”
She continued: “Or we still have [Jeff’s] house in L.A., which we are in the process of selling, but for the time being, we can go there. We cannot complain, but it is an unexpected happenstance.”
The biggest obstacle has been navigating a move and planning a wedding all at once.
“This is not how we would have drawn it up,” she concluded. “Getting kicked out of this apartment four days before the wedding and coming back to nothing in New York is not what we planned.”
After the podcast episode was released, the couple also addressed the situation in an Instagram post, which read, “Friends, we’re getting kicked out of our apartment four days before our wedding — thanks, Unsympathetic Landlord! — which, along with some relevant emails from our faithful fanbase, spurred us to do an episode about moving: when to move in together, how to harmonize lives and tastes, and all the emotions such transitions unleash. Pack a box and join the fun!”
Porizkova and Greenstein got engaged in July 2025 after two years of dating. The supermodel was previously married to late Cars frontman Ric Ocasek from 1989 to 2018. The pair shared sons Jonathan, 31, and Oliver, 27.
