Miles Teller did well in diversifying his portfolio.

Though the Eternity actor’s primary gig is certainly acting, in 2019, he ventured out by becoming one of many celebrities to enter the world of adult beverages.

Now, his investment in The Long Drink Company has left him with quite the payday.

Earlier this week The Long Drink Company, makers of an eponymous ready-to-drink spritzer native to Finland, in which Miles had a minority stake, sold to the Mark Anthony Group of Companies, makers of hard seltzer pioneer White Claw, for a reported $325 million.

Miles, speaking with The Hollywood Reporter after the deal, stayed largely mum when it came to specific numbers, noting: “I don’t really talk numbers
I was always taught that’s not in good taste.”

He did however admit: “All I’ll say is that I’m not retiring from acting anytime soon,” though maintained: “I’ve been feeling very proud.”

“I’m very excited for our founders. How cool for them to come from a country where they don’t export a lot of things on the global stage,” he continued, further gushing: “This drink — their national beverage — for them to bring this product here that they believed in and to scale it and grow it organically, it’s the true American dream.”

Reflecting on his journey as an investor, he added: “Long Drink was certainly my first company. It’s the first brand that I ever really attached myself to in this way. I don’t have Instagram, I’m not on TikTok, I’m not on a lot of these platforms that brands think, ‘Well if he can’t promote it through his own personal channels then how much awareness are we going to get out of it?”

“This just really disproves that and it shows, I think, that consumers can really sniff out [expletive],” he went on, also noting: “They can tell when a celebrity is really just trying to get in and out to make a buck. I’ve been involved in this company for over seven years. It was something that I really believed in and we came up with great ways for me to advocate and put my own branding on a part of this.”

And though the payout wouldn’t quite cover a retirement from acting, the possibility of potentially self-funding different acting projects isn’t out of the question. “I think if anything, I’ve gravitated toward underdog stories. I really like chip-on-the-shoulder characters, odds stacked against you — a person or a community.”

“This gives me a lot of confidence to trust my instincts,” Miles maintained. “I’ve been producing for the last several years. Certain actors can get movies made on different budgets. If you can say, ‘Hey I’m attached to this thing, let me find a director and what actors do we like for this, do I have relationships with them?’ So, it certainly helps.”

Miles, who next stars in the Michael Jackson biopic Michael, out April 24, had his breakout role in the Oscar-winning 2014 film Whiplash. He has been married to model Keleigh Teller since 2019.
