The third season of Euphoria has been years in the making, and it’s already generating controversy — of course, for none of the right reasons.
The buzzy season 3 premiere of the hit teen soap opera has made waves for its shocking low Rotten Tomatoes score — 42 percent and dropping.
That’s not gonna stop most die-hard fans from sticking with the season until the end, though. Zendaya is still killing it, and Sydney Sweeney is making headlines for all sorts of reasons.

When Will ‘Euphoria’ Season 3, Episode 2 Premiere?
Season 3 episode 2 of Euphoria debuts on Sunday, April 19, at 6 p.m. PDT/9 p.m. EDT. The eight-episode season will run through May 31, with new episodes dropping every Sunday.

What Happened in the ‘Euphoria’ Season 3 Premiere?
The season 3 premiere caught us up with the lives of our core cast five years on from the season 2 finale. Nate (Jacob Elordi) and Cassie (Sydney Sweeney) are engaged to be married, but it’s a rocky relationship. Nate has taken over his father’s real estate business, but it’s struggling. Cassie makes sexually suggestive videos on TikTok while striving for some revenue streams of her own to fund her massive flower arrangement bill for their wedding. She confronts Nate with a plan he doesn’t take too kindly to — starting an OnlyFans.
Rue (Zendaya) works for Laurie (Martha Kelly) to pay off her $10,000 debt that’s grown in interest. Accompanied by Faye (Chloe Cherry), Rue acts as a drug mule smuggling narcotics across the Mexican border in occasionally stomach-churning ways. Meanwhile, Lexi (Maude Apatow) is an assistant for a powerful movie executive named Patty Lance (Sharon Stone), which keeps her in proximity to Maddy (Alexa Demie), who works at a talent agency wrangling big-name stars like teen heartthrob Dylan Reid (Homer Gere). Jules (Hunter Schafer) doesn’t make an appearance in this episode, but Lexi informs Rue that she’s now a kept girlfriend of a wealthy older man.
The episode concludes with Rue rubbing elbows with some dangerous figures in the LA criminal underworld during a drug delivery, and it’s here that she realizes she wants to get into the strip club business alongside drug kingpin Alamo Brown (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje). When a woman at Alamo’s house party overdoses on the drugs Rue brought, it puts a target on Rue’s back that she manages to just barely escape. It also sets up a trade of sorts between Alamo and Laurie.
What’s Going to Happen in ‘Euphoria’ Season 3, Episode 2?
If we can make a guess, we’re likely going to get a taste of Jules’ high life as a sugar baby, while tensions progress between Cassie and Nate over their disagreements in wedding finances and Cassie’s proposed money-making scheme (maybe they get married in episode 2?). In the trailer for the weeks ahead, it’s made explicit that Alamo wants to take Rue from Laurie and put her into business with him as penance for Laurie’s drugs causing an overdose in one of his girlfriends — a body for a body, as he explains.
We can only assume that Laurie will ultimately want to get her revenge on Alamo and Rue, which will certainly be interesting. However, Lexi and Maddy’s storylines were something of an afterthought in the premiere, so we hope that their Hollywood striving makes a bigger splash as the season progresses.

As listed on IMDb, Euphoria season 3, episode 2 will feature Zendaya, Elordi, Sweeney, Demie, Apatow, Cherry and Colman Domingo, with the familiar additions of Schafer, Eric Dane as Cal Jacobs and Dominic Fike as Elliot. Newcomers Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Asante Blackk, Gideon Adlon, Darrell Britt-Gibson, Danielle Deadwyler, Bill Bodner, Colleen Camp and Priscilla Delgado will also make appearances.
