Mike Tindall appears to have extended a surprise olive branch to his cousin-in-law, Prince Harry

The former rugby union player reshared a clip of the Duke of Sussex, 41, from his recent appearance on Joe Marler Will See You Now on his podcast’s Instagram account, called The Good, The Bad and The Rugby

In May, Mike appeared to make a rare jibe at Prince Harry, saying he knew him “when he was fun”, but now appears to have reached out via social media.

In the clip, however, Harry was actually discussing Mike’s podcast co-host James Haskell, after Celebrity Traitors star Joe asked him who the “most famous person” in his contacts was.

To wind him up due to their longstanding rivalry, Harry mentioned James, joking: “You’ve seen them play rugby, makes it a sport worth watching. Good looking guys, as well.”

A delighted James Haskell shared his reaction to the video on the podcast account he shares with Mike, saying: “Well, you can’t argue with the Duke, can you?”

“Looks like it’s 1-0, Marler,” he added with a wink.

During an off-camera chat at the Hay Literary Festival in Powys, Wales, he also made a series of light-hearted comments about disgraced royal Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.

He opened up about his 2011 wedding to Zara, 45, expressing his surprise that James Haskell had not made a fool out of himself there.

And making a rare mention of the Duke of Sussex, he said: “A lot of other people managed that way better than you – [like] Harry, when he was fun.”

The wedding took place during Harry’s famous “party prince” days, five years before he met his wife, Meghan Markle.

Are Mike Tindall and Prince Harry still friends?

Harry and Mike were once close friends, and the Duke of Sussex is even the godfather to the Tindalls’ middle daughter, Lena, who is now eight.

However, their relationship appears to have cooled since Harry stepped down as a senior royal in 2020 and moved to the US. It’s not known if they are still in touch.

They previously attended many events together, such as a lunch for the late Queen’s 90th birthday, while cousins Harry and Zara spent a lot of time together growing up.

Mike and Zara attended Meghan and Harry’s wedding in 2018 and supported him at the Sentebale Concert in 2016.

In 2023, Mike was only a half-hour drive from the Duke and Duchess of Sussex on a visit to Santa Barbara, but it’s not known if he paid them a visit at their home in Montecito.
