Another huge fan of the brand is the Princess of Wales. Back in 2016, the royal sported a pair of Soru earrings when she was on an official visit to Canada. The mother-of-three memorably wore a bold, red dress by Preen, which she paired with the brand’s baroque, double-sided statement earrings, causing a sellout situation.

Sicilian-British sisters Francesca Kelly and Marianna Doyle, who founded Soru, still recall the effect the royal had on their sales. The ‘Kate Effect’ is very real, the founders previously told HELLO!: “We were first of all honoured, which was quickly followed by shock as our sales went through the roof for the earrings she had chosen to wear, continuously selling out and still a popular style today.”

Recalling how their business changed, they revealed: “This has had a massive impact on our brand – we were a small, unknown Instagram-grown company and were catapulted to a global audience with traffic to our site from countries all over the world.”

It seems that Manchester-born Michelle has a soft spot for the royal. “I’d love to play Kate,” she previously told The Sun on Sunday in 2020. “I’m getting there with my accents, I do like doing them.” Michelle also said she felt that the royal was “just a normal girl at heart.”
