Even before becoming a grandmother, Queen Rania of Jordan looked forward to the role, aspiring to be a “fun grandma.” The mom of four shared her goal during a 2022 appearance on Good Morning America. “I used to always say my favorite title is mama, but I think that’s going to quickly change” to the “Arabic word for grandma,” she said on GMA.

“My goal is to be a fun grandma,” Rania added. “We have a saying in Arabic that no person is dearer to us more than our children than our grandchildren. So I’m really excited to have babies in my life soon.”

Since then, Rania has become a grandmother four times over. Prior to the arrival of granddaughters no. 3 and no. 4 in 2026, the Queen wrote: “The grandchildren club is growing.”

The club currently includes four granddaughters: Princess Iman, Amina, Talia and Rania. Continue scrolling to meet the Jordanian Queen’s adorable girl squad

Rania gained the title grandmother in 2024 with the birth of Crown Prince Hussein and Princess Rajwa’s first child, Princess Iman bint Al Hussein bin Abdullah II. The royal baby, named after her paternal aunt Princess Iman, was born on August 3, 2024 at the King Hussein Medical Center.

After his daughter’s arrival, Crown Prince Hussein wrote on Instagram: “Praise be to God for His abundant blessings. We are immensely grateful for the safe birth of our daughter and the health of my beloved wife, Rajwa,” adding: “Our heartfelt thanks to our family and the Jordanian people for their kind wishes, which deeply touched us during these special moments.”

Proud grandmother Rania reacted to Iman’s birth, writing on X (translated to English): “Praise be to God for His greatest gifts
You have enlightened our lives with our precious granddaughter, Iman. May God protect us from you. Congratulations to Hussein and Rajwa, and may God fill your lives with blessings and contentment.”

The Queen also took to her personal Instagram account to share photos of her first grandchild. “Iman, you’ve already got a hold of my heart. Our family has never been happier! ” she wrote alongside the carousel.

Months after her arrival, Iman joined her grandmother at work, with Rania posting a picture of herself holding Iman while she worked on her laptop. “Baby Iman’s first Zoom board meeting earlier this week!” she captioned the post.

Ahead of her first birthday in 2025, Princess Iman accompanied her parents and paternal grandmother to Venice, Italy for Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez’s wedding.

Amina

Less than a year after becoming a first-time grandmother, the Queen gained a second granddaughter. Rania’s daughter Princess Iman and her husband Jameel Alexander Thermiotis welcomed their first child, Amina, on February 16, 2025 at the Prince Hashem bin Abdullah II Hospital in Aqaba. Just the month before, the proud grandmother had announced that her daughter and son-in-law were expecting.

Rania celebrated the news of Amina’s arrival with photos of the royal baby, including pictures of herself and Jameel dressed in scrubs. “My darling Iman is now a mother. We’re grateful and overjoyed to meet Amina, our family’s newest blessing. Congratulations Jameel and Iman – may God bless you and your precious little girl,” the queen captioned the post.

While Rania posts pictures of Amina, she avoids sharing photos of her granddaughter’s face. The baby appeared to be in New York City while her grandmother was in town during the 2025 United Nations General Assembly. Alongside a photo of herself and Amina with the baby’s back to the camera, the Queen wrote: “With my Amina.”

Rania’s “grandchildren club” grew in 2026 with the birth of Iman and Jameel’s twin daughters. The babies, named Talia and Rania, were born on August 14, 2026. The previous month, Rania announced that her daughter Iman was expecting again.

“The grandchildren club is growing, and we couldn’t be happier for Iman, Jameel, and soon-to-be big sister Amina!” the Queen wrote alongside a photo of Jameel holding Amina as she touched her mom’s baby bump.

At the time, it was not disclosed that Iman was pregnant with twins. That surprise was revealed in the Royal Hashemite Court’s birth announcement.

“The Royal Hashemite Court is pleased to announce that Her Royal Highness Princess Iman bint Abdullah II and Mr. Jameel Alexander Thermiotis were blessed, on 14 August 2026, with twin baby girls,” the court’s statement read. “The Royal Hashemite Court extends its sincere congratulations and best wishes to Princess Iman and Mr. Jameel, as well as to Their Majesties King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein and Queen Rania Al Abdullah on this happy occasion.”

The baby girls’ names were later revealed to be Talia and Rania, the latter being a tribute to Iman’s mother. Three days after their arrival, Rania shared pictures of the twins with members of the royal family, writing: “Healthy, happy, and finally here. We’ve been waiting so long to meet you, Talia and Rania. Congratulations Iman, Jameel, and sweet big sister Amina!”
