Mary J. Blige, 55, shows off impressive physique in low-cut suit

Mary J. Blige proves age is just a number. The multi-Grammy Award winning singer appeared on Sherri on Friday, April 17, 2026, and showed off her impressive physique.

To the show, Mary wore a gingham patterned suit, with a low-cut jacket showing off a black tank top. She embellished the look with gold accessories to match the gold buttons on the suit – dangly gold earrings, large gold rings, and a chain gold belt with charms.

Mary was on the daytime talk show to discuss her upcoming Las Vegas residency, “My Life, My Story,” which officially kicks off at the Park MGM on May 1, 2026. And while she chatted about what fans may expect at the show, what Mary really dove into was her relationship.

Who is Mary J. Blige dating?

The 55-year-old was married for most of the 2000’s. In 2003, when Mary was 32, she tied the knot with her manager, Martin “Kendu” Isaacs. The two were together for 13 years, with Mary filing for divorce in 2016.

During a 2024 interview with Sherri Shepherd, Mary opened up about what she learned from her relationship with Kendu, saying: “What I’ve learned is that forgiveness was for me. So excuse me when I say this, ‘The hell with them.'”

Since her divorce, the “Family Affair” singer has kept her romantic life private. Mary has shared that she’s in a relationship, but hasn’t revealed who the lucky man is. 

During her appearance on Sherri, the daytime talk show host asked her: “Did your boo thing get you anything special [for your birthday]?” To which the “I Can Love You” singer said while smiling: “You know he said, ‘Babe, what do you want, because you have everything,’ and I said, ‘I kinda just want you.'”

And, Mary revealed her relationship must-haves. The 55-year-old knows what she wants.

“Just consistency, time, honesty, and laughter,” she explained. “Friendship first is key. If a man can make you laugh, that’s your friend.”

Mary went on: “If you have a hard time, [you want] to be able to converse about what you’re dealing with, not yelling and screaming, because we don’t get nowhere with that.”

Mary J. Blige’s growth in the decade since her divorce

Mary filed for divorce 10 years ago. And in the decade since, she has grown a lot. During a 2022 interview with Elle, Mary opened up about how her marriage made her feel.

“I didn’t feel beautiful—like for real for real, not just ‘Hey, I’m pretty’ but actually believing it—until about 2016,” she confessed, adding: “If you’ve been beat down mentally by someone, you’re never pretty enough. You’re never smart enough. Nothing’s ever good enough.”

But, 10 years later, Mary told Sherri: “I’ve learned a lot in my years y’all. If [my partner and I] can’t discuss it, if our love doesn’t bring us back to our friendship, then we don’t have a relationship.”
