Kristen Bell set a new standard for how Mother’s Day should be celebrated.
The actress enjoyed the annual festivities in an unconventional way, as she hosted a rest and recharge day for not only herself, but her friends, who are also fellow moms.
Their relaxing stay-cation took place in Kristen’s luxurious backyard, as the mother-of-two graciously offered top-notch services such as manicures, pedicures, facial massages and delicious food for her mom group.
The ladies all looked rejuvenated on social media, as they lounged the day away in comfy outfits sans-makeup.
Where Kristen’s Mother’s Day plans came from
Kristen offered insight into what inspired her unique gathering through her Instagram caption.
She revealed that her husband Dax Shepard noted how society often allows for fathers to enjoy a day off during Father’s Day, and no one bats an eye, however, mom’s don’t get to enjoy their special day responsibility-free too.
The performer recalled: “Six years ago my husband asked me what I actually wanted for Mother’s Day — not what I thought a good mom was supposed to say. He’d noticed something: Father’s Day has this culturally accepted ‘see you later, I’m golfing’ energy. And nobody questions it.”
© Getty ImagesShe continued: “Meanwhile, Mother’s Day comes with runny eggs and soggy pancakes made with so much love you have to smile through every bite. Which is also beautiful! But also… not quite a day off. So he told me to close my eyes and think about what I’d actually want if I could have anything.”
That’s the moment that a lightbulb went off for Kristen and she got honest about her wants and needs.

The actress gushed about Dax, adding: “Reader, he delivered. Every year since. Today the dads are taking the kids, the masseuse is on her way, and I am horizontal. He even caters this rager to add a little extra love. Being a mom is the best thing I’ve ever done. Today my husband made sure the world moms me back.”
Kristen and Dax are parents to Lincoln, 3, and Delta, 11.
